If you had read 1984 rather then watching some crappy channel 4 tv program, you would know that big brother wasnt actually a person at all, he is merely the personification of government. If 1984 was too hard, watch Equillbirum - it has Christian Bale in it and has a plot you could sum up in 3 sentences, but the message is more or less the same.

And sadly, as much as some people would like to think it, I dont think there is a bunker in the centre of the earth where a fat white dude pulls levers and presses buttons to make us all dance to his puppet song

White, black, orange green, tall, skinny, short, fat ,or even handicap, we are all made of blood and guts and we all have a heart that can pump fear. A white man bleeds just as much as a black man bleeds. So I said all that to say this Everyone should act like a big brother to eachother instead of having war and destroying the planet in which we live on borrowed time. No one is above anyone not christen, catholic, prodistant, etc . Everyone is just humans nothing more nothing less. We all make mistakes that require cleaning up....But if we learn from these mistakes there is a good chance we can be the big brother together and make this united states and all of the other states united together. Peace......

Hard to say...all we can be sure of is that we are all tiny economic/political units in a vast relentless treadmill making disgusting profits of both money and raw power for some evil people, all the time - and it has ever been thus. Constant surveillance just helps this process along a bit.

Big Brother is a metaphor for dodgy, corrupt, totalitarian government. Therefore it has no origin and it is only interested in power and mind control.
