I know everyone is saying that it is the cat's personality and I am not so sure. Molly is the third cat that I own and she's probably the most independant non-affectionate cat of them all. Tobbie was very mellow, affectionate, you could pet him, play with him, drape him over your shoulder, kids would pull on him and he would do nothing. Fluffy a female never wanted to be bothered with anyone but my Dad. Molly she's alittle nuts. She will lay on the top of the couch when I am laying on it but will never come sit on my lap. When I go to pet her she will let me for a second then turns to bite/scratch me. I think Females are just more independant and Males are just more affectionate.

I don't think it's true that females are not friendly and males are.
I've been around cats all my life, and they are not all the same. Right now, we have 2 males & 1 female, and the female is by far the most attached to us. Like any cat, there are times she just wants to be left alone. But quite often, she will come and want to be held on our laps when we are relaxing. Another thing she does: if somebody is crying or talking loudly in anger... no matter where she is in the house, she will come and sit on that person's lap and purr until they calm down.
The main thing with cats is that you can't force yourself on them.
Let it be their idea, and you will find them coming to you more often. But not all cats are as friendly as others, male or female.

My female cat is friendly, actually more friendly than my male. My cat before these two was male and he did not like people at all! Well, except for me. I think it depends on the cat, not it's sex.

I have 2 males and 2 females, it has been told that males tend to be more social, but, there is always an exception to every situation, because one of my females is the total opposite. Shes like a little dog, she greets everyone at the door, gets on everyones laps.... So, I guess it just depends on the individual, since they all have their own personality!

It's individual cats, not the sexes. I have 2 female cats and they are the sweetest cats I've ever known. They love EVERYONE. My sister also has a very friendly female cat. Perhaps your female cat is jealous and that's why she is so cold. Every cat has their own personality. That's why we love them!

Just like with humans. Men are more laid back whereas us women can kinda be uptight....but not all the time, lol. Also, look at the age difference. Your female cat is a lot older whereas the male kitty is still a kitten.

I've had cats for 27 years. From my experience, the females weren't as friendly as the males, but they were still friendly. I think it's just the personality. I've also had males that weren't that friendly, either.

wherever you heard that-it's not true. cats have different personalities on their own...i have a female cat and she's friendly and never sassy or mean. My grandmother's male cat is nerotic and hides a lot. I think it depends on how they were treated as a young kitten.

The friendliest cat I ever had was a female. She loved to be held and petted. I still miss that sweet cat.
