Hot dogs come in packages of 10. http://www.kraftfoods.com/om/bn/c_Products/HotDogs.htm
Buns come 8 to the pack. When we eat hot dogs I eat one on the bun and then I eat another cut up in the beans. Sometimes I just make a hot dog on my plate without the bun, but I add all the toppings I would if I had the bread. I'm not sure why they don't have 8 and 8 or 10 and 10 in each. It is most likely a marketing technique.

To force you to buy more.
2 packages of hot dogs = 24 hot dogs.
3 Packages of buns = 24 buns
Jon Skywalker, prove that statistic.

because they know that about I quarter of the people eating hot dogs like to double up the weiner. So that means that 8 buns now become 10 using the extra 2 dogs for the buns! I dunno, some wise guy figured it out that they would sell more buns that way!

They don't any more. I bought some recently--8 hot dogs in a pack and 8 buns in a pack.

have you ever seen father of the bride? those guys at the bun factory got with the guys at the weenie factory and said hey, here's a thought. let's sell different amounts of weenies and buns and make more money! that's pretty much it. but hey, if you buy 3 packages of hot dogs and 2 packages of buns, THEN you get the same amount, yay!

Because if you unfold two hotdog buns, you can fit three hotdogs in there. An eight pack of buns could make four such "hotdog sandwhiches", using up all twelve hotdogs in the twelve-dog pack.

I'm not sure, but I bought a hot dog storage container for the fridge and it only holds ten hot dogs. What's up with that?? Too many different numbers and not enough matches.

Statistically, kids take about 1/3 of all the hotdogs in the world and eat it plain.
