1. Belief in God is not always about feeling safe. Some beliefs in God require fear in God.

2. God believers are not necesarily brainwashed in general. There may be certain religions that do brainwash, but not all do.

3. Believing in God doesn't necesarily make someone happy or sad.

4. Atheist only believe there is no God, not that there isn't an afterlife. Belief in God doesn't imply belief in an afterlife also.

I think 'God believers' is to general of a term. You should probably try to understand what it means to be an Atheist before claiming to understand what it is to believe in God.

I guess that explains why I feel like Atheists don't understand faith. I wasn't brainwashed as a child, as a matter of fact, my parents weren't involved at all. Being a person of faith doesn't mean your happy all the time. Having faith isn't neccessarily always a safe feeling either. As for the death part, that's a mystery, why choose between the saddest option? Some people have a faith that is full of mystery, questions, uncertainty, and at times doubts. I think faith is much more complex than many Atheists recognize. But having said that, I appreciate the other answers.

In some ways, yes. Being on the outside allows for a certain objectivity. But...believers feel something that atheists may not be able to relate to, because it's deeply subjective. The believer has a consistent self-referencing reality which supports his belief in God, and this is often reinforced by experience and observation, not just on indoctrination. It's complicated.

Not a question...
Atheists understand these things because these are common to mankind in general.
Atheists are the "scrooges" of life philosophy. Most are those who have been gravely disappointed as children and see their "sterile" stance as "real" and even "brave". They imagine their lack of Faith in a Creator and God as "strength". It is a cruel twist and a tragedy that these very intelligent beings will seldom turn and admit their error. Somewhere as children they stopped believing in Goodness. It's just a "everyone for himself" pragmatic shot in the abyss of Time for them. No meaning or significance for them. A birth certificate and then, shortly, a grave marker.....Please DON"T enlighten me!

Believers feel that you are on this site because you are insecure about yourselves and you bash to feel better about yourselves.

Believers know that you are brainwashed by Satan to say that you believe God doesn't exist as adults.

Believers know that you are not happy and that you are depressed because you know what your fate is!

Believers know that you can't accept the fact that God made rules and you are weak minded because you can't follow them so you take out your frustrations and hate on those who do follow!

So why hang out in a Religious and spiritual section? Because you will become a Believer and so WILL your Sects because Jesus said that Every Knee Shall Bow and Tongue Shall Confess HIM as LORD!You will be given another opportunity to receive Christ and I guarantee it!

I will continue to pray for you Wanda because you definitely need it!

I am an atheist.

I feel that in general we do not understand people of faith.

As atheist, we have a very clear understanding of our rational world.

We research religions and history because we do not understand having faith in the teachings of many of these beliefs.

We understand the psychological and emotion effects of faith and propaganda, so we can rationally see why people follow religion blindly; however since we are unable to have faith, we do not understand the theist frame of mind.
