First of all, everybody has 'depression'. It is part of life.
Secondly, see a therapist on stopping cutting. I don't want to bring up anything, but this usually has roots in family distress. Get counselling on that too.
If you are a danger to yourself right now. Get a friend to take away any sharp objects around you, and go to the nearest behavorial health clinic in a local hospital. I don't like referring people there, because they usually over medicate, but some medication might be necessary if you cut. The medication won't make you want to cut any less, but that's why I suggest you get counselling for it.
You are probably having a vitamin deficiency as well. Don't be afraid to take a B complex 50 mg 2 times a day with your meds. It will fend off some of the drowsiness you get and it doesn't interact with meds.
The loss of a friend will depress anybody. Feel out your feelings about it. Write down stuff. Get out in fresh air.

What a beautiful, beautiful set of lyrics, or poem you wrote ! :
I can't enjoy the day
I was sad because my friend left
I couldn't enjoy the day.
The ugliness inside me
I tried to laugh, I hurt inside
Looking happy, inside I cried
It isn't just today that's wrong
It's other times, my friend is gone
And I can't enjoy the day, No ! No !
I can't enjoy the day.
You have a soulful talent and you could help yourself by journaling or writing songs and poetry, but do NOT cut yourself, PLEASE. You need counseling and you know it, so JUST DO IT.
Good Luck !

I'm not a total expert or anything. I have a psych degree but they hand those out to anyone. I do know that you are depressed. There are varying levels of it. You really should go see a counselor - it's hard to go, but they aways make you see a perspective on life that you just forgot to look at, and it always helps. Just remember that life is too short to feel any kind of pain. Just take some control of your life and make a plan to find happiness again.

You could be. You should see your doctor. To be diagnosed as depression, it usually has to have been going on for at least 2 weeks I think. See your doctor, though.

Yes, you do, among other things. I lost my wife that way and my 28 year old daughter is doing the same thing. Please seek professional help, there is no shame in that at all. I wish you well, honestly.
