I am -- I spent years overcoming the sin, guilt, hell, condemnation stuff. I **hated** christianity and catholicism after my experience with it. What helped me to find peace with it is I found out that the god we see in these religions is a projection of people's egos; the irony is that the atheist is not rejecting 'God' but rejecting this false, ridiculous parody that many call god. I also read some books that showed me a different side of Christianity and Catholicism: Belonging to the Universe (Capra), Father Joe (Hendra), Living Buddha Living Christ (Hanh). I also read about Christian mystics such as Meister Eckhart and St. John of the Cross. What also was paramount in helping is I practiced 'A Course in Miracles' and Zen. A Course in Miracles is, unfortunately, being misused by new agers and fundies that think its message is an extension of christianity; its real message is the same as zen.

Yeah, I know what you mean. But another thing that got me was when they changed the Mass to English rather than Latin. That's what I grew up with, and I guess I just got used to it.
I just recently found a Church that is awesome though.
Not only does the Priest say the Mass in Latin, but come to find out we went to the same school together. Course I didn't know him from back then, he was younger than me, and you know we can be as kids!!!
AND !!!! The ONLY time you see any mention of the word "money", is only in the bulletin.

for me it was a retreat at st. josephs convent. i went to a cursillo for 3 days and there i truly found out what it means to be catholic and how the holy spirit works with in us to be a part of the church which is the body of christ.i learned that my body is a temple made by god and that i should respect my body as gods temple like the faith its self.all catholic means is universal when you begin to live your life as christian with in the catholic faith then thats when it all becomes the true living faith. so yes i do consider myself a born again catholic carrying the weight of the cross like our lord jesus christ did for all of man kind sins

Yeah I hate having to give the Church money so that it can do crummy things like helping the poor and needy. All those people in third world countries that the Church helps educate can just go to h*ll. They're not getting any of my money!
Riiiight.
