It typically depends on the age of the cat. However, getting the cat neutered should be first on your list. I've owned several males, neutered them well after 6 mths. of age, and they all stopped spraying. My answer to you is, Yes. Get him fixed. Your chances of him spraying after wards are slim to none.
*Note: If you have other male cats that are in the same enviorment as your male, he may still mark his territory. This is common for males.

It all depends ... how old? After 2 years probably not. Has the pet mated? Then definitely not. But, after saying all that will your pet benefit from Spaying/ Neutering? Yes and No.
Spaying / Neutering, before a certain age will help, especially if it is docile. If your pet is "Hyper" then there is a "possibility" that it / you will encounter a "Behavior" problem.
Spaying / Neutering your feline is always a good idea between the age of 8 months thru 2 years, if for anything else for the population problems we have in America. But a male feline may always spray no matter what surgery is preformed .... sorry.

A male fixed cat spray no matter what. Hes marking his
territory as well as outside. Also if there are other cats hanging
around he will diffinetly spray. Thats his domain and hes
letting it be known. There is this spray stuff you can use, on
your furniture and etc. for odors and another spray to keep
them from spraying where ever he sprays.Neither one smells
very good at all. If your any where a wal-mart store you'll find
them there. Good luck with that situation.

if it is young it will most likely stop if you get it fixed like this week. I had a young male cat that sprayed a few times and the next week he went in to get fixed and he never sprayed after that, but if they are in the habit of it, like old men, they will most likely keep doing it for a while.

Sorry. No.
Both male and female cats tend to spray to mark their territory. I have never heard of anyone ever being able to stop this habit once it begins.
Maybe your vet can offer other thoughts on this..

If it is young enough this should stop it. clean the spot IMMEDIATELY to remove the odor and getting him fixed will at least reduce the spraying. If hes an only cat fixing him should stop it. if there is another cat hes more likely to continue marking his territory

If your cat is still young, getting him neutered can help (not always) however one tip is, if he has certain spots that he always does it, if you get some lemon-scented airfreshener and spray it on to a tissue or rag, then rub it where he sprays, it will put him off. On the other hand, it could just be laziness, he can't be bothered to go out!
