The best way I have found to make them turn out tender and have that nice smokey flavor is to first put foil down in a pan and then put in the ribs and bbq sauce. Then, cover them with foil and bake themat about 325 for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Low, slow ,moist heat is what makes them tender. You can tell they have been in there long enough because they will be tender. Then take them wrapped in the foil to your already heated grill, unwrap them on the grill and close the lid. Leave them for about 10 minutes. This adds that nice smokey flavor. If you don't want the smokey flavor you can leave off this step.

The secret to tender ribs is a little vinegar with the salt and pepper in the water when you boil them. It is a natural tenderizer and doesn't add significant calories. Then after they boil 45 minutes cover with your favorite sauce and cook them real slow in an oven bag for 3-4 hours on 325 degrees. I vote to cut before you boil so they are easier to serve.

You need to cut them first.

Okay, here's how I make them ( and the meat falls off the bone.) I put the cut up ribs in a pan half full of water. I season the water and the ribs because they are going to steam themselves. I set the oven on about 375 and I cover the ribs with foil. After an hour I turn them over and cover them back.

After about 45 minutes I take off the foil and put bbq sauce on them and put them back in the oven for about 15 minutes with no foil. Then I take them out. THe meat is so tender that it falls off the bone.

You just made me want some.

This is the easiest recipe. TENDER-N-SAUCY BARBECUE SPARE RIBS

3 lbs. spare ribs
1 jar of your favorite bar-b-q sauce
Rinse spare ribs and put into large kettle of water. Boil uncovered for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Remove from water and brush both sides generously with barbecue sauce. Place on hot barbecue grill. Turn every seven minutes,, re-applying barbecue sauce generously each time. Barbecue time should be about 21 minutes.

I never boil ribs. Season them with your choice of stuff. I like garlic powder, lemon pepper, and seasoned salt. If you have more than one slab, then brown them individually under the broiler, about 7-10 min. per side. After you have them all browned, place them all in your pan. If you want to sauce them it's ok to do so now, if not then fine. But sauce or not, cover tightly and bake at 350 for approx. 1to 1and a half hours. Delish!!!

Follow this basic recipe:

Blackened Southwest Ribs
Serves 6

Recipe Ingredients:
2 tsp. Cumin Seeds
2 tsp. Fennel Seeds
2 Tbs. Pasilla Chile Powder
1 Tbs. Chipotle Chile Powder
2 Tbs. Sugar
1 tsp. Dry Mustard
1 tsp. Garlic Powder
1 Tbs. Salt
3 Tbs. Honey
3 Tbs. Lime Juice
1 tsp. Orange Zest
4 1/2 lbs. (1 rack) Farmer John California Natural TM Pork Spareribs
3 cloves Garlic cut in half
3/4 cup Dark Beer

1: Toast the cumin and fennel seeds in a small skillet over low heat until lightly browned. Let cool. Using a mortar or spice/coffee mill, grind the cumin and fennel seeds into a powder. Combine in a small bowl with both chile powders, sugar, dry mustard, garlic powder, salt, honey, lime juice and orange zest.

2: Rub the surface of the rack of spareribs with the cut cloves of garlic. Thoroughly cover both sides of the rib rack with the prepared spice mixture. Reserve whatever is not needed for later use.

3: Line a baking dish with foil, enough to enclose the rib rack. Lay the ribs in the lined dish and pour in the dark beer. Fold the foil to enclose the ribs and beer, making sure to seal the edges well to prevent the steam from escaping. Bake the ribs in a 250 degree oven for 2½ hours.

4: After you remove the ribs from the oven they should be extremely tender. You may need to cut the rack in half in order to transfer it. Mix any remaining spice mixture with the juices from the baking pan and use this to baste the ribs as you finish cooking them.

Instead of the following step, but the ribs in your broiler (below the oven).

Over a very hot grill, cook the rack 3 to 4 minutes a side, basting with the reserved juices, until nicely charred.

5: Cut into portions and serve immediately.

this is a great way to cook them and when they are done they just fall off the bone, first pre boil them, just put them in a pot of boiling water, this gets the grease out of them, for about 45 minutes to an hour, drain put on a cooking sheet, season, sauce if desired, and bake for 30 minutes to an hour at 350.

Cook them in a sauce for 1 1/2 hours in the oven.....You can boil them first to make them faster to cook in the oven though.

Pork requires that you cook them all the way through. Or...you can toss them in a crock pot and cook them from morning till dinner, on slow.....or low. With tons of juice and sauce :)
