I know you're serious about asking your question, but a few more details and I could be more specific. I mean, we have 33,000 miles of coastline - more than the rest of the USA combined.

The Russian River / Kenai River confluence is a very big and (most years) productive fishery, especially for sockeyes (red salmon) which are the tastiest of the five Pacific Salmon. The fishery is fly fishing only, which is rare. Search of "Russian River" and "Cooper Landing".

Also in my area (if your cruise gets you to Seward or Whittier or even Anchorage), the Kenai river and the Kasilof have Kings, Reds, Silvers and Pinks, and steelhead depending on the season. And trout all year. You can go guided or by yourself, but I'd recommend a guided trip earlier in your stay so you can learn the tricks, locations, regs, etc from a local expert. Then head out on your own.

If you're coming up the Inside Passage and not getting away from the boat for more than a shore trip, you're going to have to look at their ports of call and ask again. I would note that the cruise lines get a kick-back from the guides, flightseeing, etc that they promote on board, but those aren't the only shows in town. Call up a tackle shop in the port town and ask them for a recommendation. Anyone in town knows when the ship comes in and can meet you for a guided trip.

In Ketichan, you can fish for salmon right in town. Grab a (land) cab or a water taxi. They'll know where to drop you off. Call a tackle shop in advance or ask the local standing next to you for regs on tackle, limits, etc.

Hope that helps a bit.

Follow the bears, they always know where the fishings good. Seroiusly though there are all kinds of guides at fairly reasonable prices. If you don't want to as the cruiseline then do a search for the ports you will be stopping and you should be able to find lists of outfitters. If you are planning to go it alone then the touist info in each town should be able to direct you to some hotspots. Good luck
