How do you know when you boyfriend says "I LOVE YOU" and he really means it?

Last night I asked Bf if he really loves me and we have been going out 12years now.

Just the fact that you asked this question should answer your own question. There is no doubt or mistrust in true love. why do you ask? Obviously you don't trust something. how old are you? I'm no Dr. Phil, but I will say this, true love just knows. you wouldn't be asking yahoo if you really belived he did. My advice , GET OUT NOW! before you throw 20 yrs. of your life away that you can never get back! (not 2 mention the kids he'll leave you with). Be patient, there is someone out there just 4 you. you will find him just when you least expect it.

12 years and he has never said "I love you". Now I am not with the press, but if I were I would put a big ole headline in your news paper that reads; "If it has been 12 years, 12 friggin years and he is just saying I love you, or after 12 years if you don't love him, what the fuckareyou doing? 12 years and you question whether or not he loves you? 12 years? WOW". And that would be all I would write.

If you are questioning his love for you after 12 years then you maybe you need to reevaluate your love for him.

Questioning some one's feelings ( that you haven't just been seeing for a couple of weeks or months) isn't a good sign.

Sometimes people don't stay in long term relationships because of love. Convenience is even better and is a better reason.Seems you need to figure out what your relationship is made out of : Love or Convenience.

You been going out with him too many years. Two years should have been enough
if love really was serious between the two of you. You should know he do not love
you cause he would be proving his love more than telling it to you. All these years no attempt at marriage, do not know who is at fault but someone needs to draw the line
in this relationship. Peace up.

If yall have been dating for 12 years and you are still asking yourself that question then there is something definitely wrong with your relationship.

You didn't say if he had cheated on you now or in the past.
You didn't say if yall lived together or much of anything else.

But it is like this.........regardless of anything else that you "didn't" tell us you "DID" ask the question which in my book means that if you have to ask then that would tell me NO.

That he has given you some reason not to trust in his love, in him, in your relationship. And if he has given you a reason for any or all of this, then that would tell me that he does not truly love you.
