I am looking for something fairly inexpensive that will give good sharp and color corrected results from old color negatives

I have a Plustek 7200 and it does a pretty good job.

I would suggest getting an Epson 4490 because of its value and features. I believe it also comes with photoshop elements which is an excellent software that can do the color corrections that you need to do. It also has other features like digital ICE which helps minimize dust on your negatives.
