In other words, who gave us these dates or what's the source?

FYI: I know no one knows the day or the hour, not even the son only the father. What I want to know is where this date started. Is this another cultic prediction?

Speculation, as no one can set a date. Having said that, it is possible. It comes from God say the Generation shal not pass, study of biblical numbers has determined that a generation is 70 years. The generation is being started from the date of Israel becoming a Nation again after over 2000 years (per Bible prophecy) They became a nation in 1948, Seventy years into the future would be 2018, minus 7 year tribulation bringing you to 2011.

ALSO

2011-2018
For the past several decades Jack Van Impe has hinted at nearly every year as being the time for the rapture. Normally, he only goes out one or two years from the current calendar year. Jack's latest projection for the rapture goes out several years. His new math has 51 years being the length of a generation. If you add 51 years to 1967, the year Israel recaptured Jerusalem, you get 2018. Once you minus the 7 year tribulation period, you arrive at 2011

ALSO

2012
New Age writers cite Mayan and Aztec calendars which predict the end of the age on Dec 21, 2012.

Finally, when it comes to knowing the general time frame of Christ's return for His church, the word of God is more generous. Jesus forewarned us of a number of events that will take place. When we see the predicted events coming together, we can conclude that time is short. Most of the prophecies will take place during the tribulation. Any forewarning of their arrival would make the rapture all the more likely, because it occurs at the start of the 7 year tribulation period.

Speculation is OK but its dancing at the edges of the scripture no-no that man does not know nor has the Father revealed it just yet

Jack VanEmpe gave a date no later than 2018. Someone else has subtracted 7 years from that point to suggest that or earlier could be the rapture. I'm reading in between the lines too.
But the real message is look up your redemption draweth near.

"Cultic prediction" what does that even MEAN?
People are confusing the incorrect information which is going around about the 2012 Mayan Calendar "end date" (which isn't an ending at all) and sticking made-up information and things from Revelation into that.
Search through my answered questions for lots of information on 2012.

There is even a sect who truly and fully believe that Christ will return in 2008 because of the "One generation of the rebirth of isreal" or how ever it's worded.

But, it also states that Jesus' returning will be like a theif in the night, and woe is the person who belives in the false ressurections.

Don't be fooled about these things, for almost two thousand years people have been predicting the second comming of Christ.

the Bible codes reveal that the apocalyse will occur during 2012, and of course jesus will be here to witness that...

The Aztecs also said the end of the world would occur in december 2012, but they used the stars to make this prediction, and didn't believe in Jesus.

Bible codes, also known as Torah codes, are words, phrases and clusters of words and phrases that some people believe are meaningful and exist intentionally in coded form in the text of the Bible. These codes were made famous by the book The Bible Code, which claims that these codes can predict the future. These claims are strongly doubted by skeptics and by many religious groups.

It is based on misguided data and assumptions. The date: December 21, 2012 is only the end of the Mayan calender and has nothing to do with Christianity.

Some say it is because of an Equidistant Letter Sequence Bible Code discovered by rabbis using computers. Others say it is because the Mayan calendar only goes to 2012.

FALSE> NO ONE knows the day nor the hour, but God himself> 2012 is when the mayan calendar is complete..therefore some superstitous people think that the world will end precisely on Dec. 12. 2012

There have been many dates given for the return of Christ. People have stood on mountains for days awaiting His return only to come back down disappointed. Christ said be ready for you will not know the day or time of My return. We as humans need not be arrogant to the point that we decide when Christ will return.

Most Christians that read the Bible know that NO ONE knows the day or time of His return....BUT we do have signs given to us of the end coming....some of those signs appear to be starting now. So, we are just watching....my GUESS would be 10-20 years but maybe not....who can know but God? The key is to be ready!!!
