I used it. For the first couple of days your face looks the same. By the end of the first week mine was red and peeling. It wasnt to bad though. Then your face gets used to it. Stay out of the sun as much as possible because it will fry your face.

i think retin-a is one of those difficult drugs to decide whether or not to use. the main drawback to using retin-a is that you have to stay out of the sun because it makes you EXTREMELY sensitive to sunlight...so if you like being outside especially in the summer, thats out of the question. your face will turn red and scaly while you use it, so it doesnt look very appealing, and depending on your age, you may be very self conscious about the way you look. however, once you get over the facial redness and scaliness, your skin looks amazing. so if you're willing to go through the period of wierdness and discomfort that comes with retin-a, then go for it. otherwise it may not be right for you.

another good drug to try is benzamycin. it is a combination of an antibiotic (erythromycin) and benzoyl peroxide, which is found in clearasil and oxy. the antibiotic kills the bacteria that cause acne, and the benzoyl dries out your skin to make the acne go away. it is available prescription only from your doc and is a cream you put on your acne twice a day.

As a redhead with fair and very sensitive skin, it took me using Retin-A three times a week for a year before I didn't react to it anymore with peeling. I use it to keep my skin smooth and wrinkle free. Plus with cystic acne, it speeds the healing process. Your skin may look worse for awhile. Stick with it. I once had a dermatologist tell me to put it under my eyes. That was a mistake. I was miserable and looked like I was 90. Keep it away from your sensitive eye areas.

Retin-A (retinoic acid) is really a good treatment for acne also as pore minimizer and for facial whitening. But this makes your skin soooo sensitive to sunlight that is why you have to prevent the sun and have to wera high SPF sunblock. Hope this helps.

I've used it. I hate it. It makes your skin red, blotchy, and extremely dry and scaly. It also burns your skin if you go out into the sun. It is very irratating. I would try and find a different prescription, such as Benza Clen. It works really well.
