The big food triggers for heartburn include:
Chocolate
Coffee and alcoholic beverages
Mint products (peppermint, e.g.)
Carbonated beverages of any type
Citrus juices or fruits
Tomato products
Mustard/vinegar and other acidic condiments
Fried and fatty foods
Aspirin and ibuprofen (Tylenol is fine)
Some ways to avoid heartburn, aside from avoiding these foods, are to make sure you don't lie down right after you eat and that you eat smaller, more frequent meals instead of big ones.

Fried foods, fatty foods, citrus fruits, coffee, alcohol, spicy foods, chocolate and tomato-based foods, onions (although certain varieties of onion such as the walla and maui are milder), rich dairy products, buttered popcorn and carbonated beverages cause heartburns. Eating large meals can also cause heartburn.
