On the cross, Jesus spoke to only one of the "criminals" who were cruicified with Him and said "today you will be with me in paradise". This criminal had realised his sin and repented of it, he also asked for forgiveness as he realised that Jesus was the only one who coild help.
The other criminal realised his sin and knew he was getting what he deserved. However he was unrepentant and did not seek forgivness, just escape from punishment. He will not be in heaven. He was not promised it.
Good deeds will not help you get to heaven. This is a gift from God, all you have to do to get it is accept it BEFORE you die.
All are not going to paradise READ THE BOOK.
Purpose of life? Fellowship with God.

This is all IMO.
First, criminals will go to heaven only IF they believe in and accept what Jesus did for them on the cross. Not just because Jesus did it for them.
We are responsible for our deeds, I believe. God will reward his servants based on the fruits that have born in this world. The phrase "you reap what you sow" is mentioned many times in the Bible, and unless I'm getting the context wrong I believe this concept applies to heaven and the afterlife as much as it does for our mortal lives.
Again, I do not believe that we are all going to paradise. But even if you are saved by God's grace, you are motivated to do good because your life is devoid of substance and meaning if you continue to pursue the temporary, destructive pleasures of sin. Choosing NOT to do good deeds will eat away at your heart and soul. And doing the right thing pleases God, and shows our love for him, which is to me the ultimate reason to do good.

First of all, not all criminals, nor their victims, are going to paradise. Secondly, the reason we do good deeds is because we are trying our darndest to live a life that is giving glory to God. Third, everyone is responsible for their own deeds. And, lastly, all of us are not going to paradise.

Being good in this world really has nothing to do with the netherworld. People are good for purely selfish reasons. You kill someone, then someone is going to want to kill you; steal from someone and they are going to have no problem stealing from you, lie and you will get lied to. Even people who act in a very caring, self sacrificing was are doing it for their own ends, to feel better about themselves or guilt. People who do bad things may not even know that what they are doing is bad. They may be sick in the head, or been a victim of poor parenting. They may even think that they are justified, because of some strange belief. We as a society have good reason to keep these people behavior in check. God on the other had, is said, to have created these people and placed them in there current circumstance. Wouldn't it be a sin for God to let them suffer in Hell when God could have stepped in and changed things? Since there is no God I think we all should try and be understanding along with practical. No God, no problem

Thats quite unfair of you.
You get the present of eternal life and envy those who get it too?
Isnt it the right of God to choose to whom he gives?
And what makes you think that you could earn your way into heaven?
You cant.
As a real christian you would understand that JC died on the cross for the sins.
Shouldnt you rather be thanking God that your sins are forgiven than accusing others of greater sin?
Going to paradise is not the purpose of life and thats why NOT everybody will make it to paradise
- and I promise you will be feeling sorry for all those who didnt make it to paradise

if we're not going to paradise why bother. Have you ever done anything you shouldn't? If so then you shouldn't go to paradise? There is still hope for us all, belief in Jesus is our eraser that erases the wrong we did. But if we are truely forgiven of sin then we will lead good lives and not commit sin anymore. There has to be hope.

What makes you think criminals are going to paradise? Criminals have to repent.
That's the keyword, repent - and I don't mean just saying it, or saying a dozen Hail Mary's, or whatever - they have to truly, deeply, repent and mean it with every inch of their soul.
So no, not all criminals will sit side by side with Christ.
But some will.

Allow me to explain to you the difference. Many people are confused about this issue.
First of all, we are all criminals in God's eyes because we have failed to obey His every command. The penalty is therefore death. Jesus died so that we who placed our faith in him might live forever. That includes all people everywhere.
As to why we should do good deeds, we are commanded to. You see, there is a difference between salvation and reward. Every one who trusts Christ is saved. Therefore we who believe are not judged as to our sins in Heaven. We are judged for our works, whether good or bad, and rewarded accordingly.
I hope this helps you. God bless!

You honestly carry an exciting query; one who will get to the guts of what I believe is the gospel message of Christ. I believe the notion that Jesus used to be crucified "for our sins" is one that does not bring a lot forex in our society, and creates extra misunderstandings than solutions. (It made a few feel within the feudal society wherein it constructed, however that is one other tale). I believe Jesus WAS crucified for looking to unfastened specific humans - to unfastened them from the oppression of a tyrannical, imperial method established on slavery and an imposed peace of hands. Caesar furnished peace (the Pax Romana), however the fee used to be the blood of any person that stood in his method. Jesus furnished one more method: peace by way of nonviolent resistance, even on the fee of his possess blood. Caesar furnished a option to prosperity and riches - if you happen to occurred to be born into the proper elegance, and the fee used to be the enslavement and oppression of the non-romans. Jesus furnished one more type of riches, one more type of prosperity - non secular aliveness, awakening to a complete new method of being, a existence so unbounded that it might handiest be referred to as 'everlasting' (i.e. divine). It used to be a existence that any person might be 'born' into, without difficulty through deciding on it. Don't get me mistaken, I recognize Spartacus immensely. But Spartacus attempted to deliver freedom by way of drive of hands. He performed the Empire's recreation, and he misplaced. Jesus refused to play their recreation. He confirmed us one more method, a extra noble method, some way of peace. Just my ideas. Peace to you.
