I'd say that if you leave it in checked luggage, it probably won't be a problem.

When these things go in the cabin is when the problems start. Check it so you're not holed up at security.

You're going to have to take it off to go through the metal detector. My guess is that it's ok as long as nothing is sharp. Checked baggage will be fine though.
