Everytime you brew a pot of coffee.

I say humbug to the other answers. Never change it. That's what the Marines do. Just keep adding grounds until it gets all thick and nice then you will have the Coffee of Legend. With this you can stop a bull elephant and the smell of a simple brew will put hair on your chest and then some. Never, I repeat, NEVER change those grounds, they are sacred.

The truth is coffee loses it's flavor from exposure to "the elements" which include air and water. Even if you could reuse the grounds the optimum flavor would be lost. So, it would be wise to replace it before brewing a new pot. Other hazards include exposure to molds and mildews that form on the moist grounds inside the pot. Many people are allergic to these and they can cause problems if either ingested or breathed.

You need to change it everytime you are finished with one,but if you want more than you can change it, but if you dont want anymore you just clean it and reuse the next time.

You might want to run a cup of white vinegar through it every couple of months, too. Cleans out any deposits inside, depending on what kinda of water you use.
