The dog stays alone when I am in the school and my parents are at work. It pees on the carpet, cries, barks, eats shoes, books, wires and furniture. Outside it runs after the cats and might end up under a car. It broke 3 leashes during the walk, therefore now we put him on the chain outside 3 times a day and it always cries. If we take him in the car - it gets sick, and you can't leave him inside if you want to go buy something. At the river it barks at everybody and chases other dogs. If you want to stay over the night or go for a trip - your dog is a problem because you have to stay home and walk and feed your dog. It costs a lot of money to groom it. At winter you have to wash his feet every time you walk with him. 3 times a day! Is there an easier way to be a responsible dog owner?

I'm not trying to be mean either but I agree with everyone who said maybe you shouldn't have a dog. Your dog needs to be trained and you can't train a dog if you leave it alone for long periods of time every day. Your poor dog sounds so lonely and sad. Even if a person gets a dog that's already trained and then leaves it alone alot, the dog will start acting like it isn't trained because it's lonely and bored. Some breeds of dogs need even MORE activity than most. Some breeds of dogs can turn mean if they are left alone as much as you leave yours. I think you should find a doggie daycare or a friend to dogsit for you. It would solve soooo many problems if you do that and enroll it in some training. If you can't do that then I don't think you should have a dog because you don't have enough time for it.

Not knowing how old your dog is it is little difficult to answer your question but basically, all your dog really needs is to be trained. There are some excellent books and websites dedicated to dog training. Or you can always check out your local pet store to see who offers training in your area. First, it sounds like your dog needs to be crate trained, that would help with the chewing on things and pottying in the house. If you can't get a crate, try to use a baby gate and block the dog in a very small room, like a bathroom. I would use a babygate versus anything else because then he can't chew apart the door..LOL. Please don't keep the dog outside on a chain. If you can't train it please find someone who can. Yes a dog is a heavy responsibility, but it can be a great reward when it is properly trained and will end up being a great companion. Good Luck!!

you could try to take the dog to some obedience training classes, so that it will stop the chewing and barking. The main reason that a dog will be destructive is that it is bored and lonely. As far as you having to walk him 3 times a day and wash his feet each time, that just comes with having a dog. You have to sacrifice some things to enjoy the dog, If you feel that this is a burden to you, then maybe you should not have the dog.

sounds like you don't want you dog and that your dog is not socialized, you dog needs toys to play with and for mental simulation when you are not home, I have 3 dogs, 2 small and 1 large, when its winter here (Oregon) it rains and they have muddy feet when they come in, we keep a towel by the door to wipe their feet not a big deal. you need to walk you dog more often and one of my dogs gets car sick too, so we make sure we have towels to clean up when he gets sick but as he gets older he doesn't get car sick as much. All this is part of being a owner, so when you have kids are you going to complain when you have to change diapers all the time and feed your baby and all that entails when you are a parent? Having a dog is good preparation for being a parent, if you cant handle a dog then please don't have kids, it a lot harder with kids.

It sounds like this dog is still young, if he's chewing shoes etc. They usually outgrow that. Are there any obedience training classes available in your area? My vet offers some and also the Petco and PetSmart stores nearby. It sounds like this dog may be a bit too high-strung to be trained by an amateur. Otherwise I'd suggest that you get some books on dog training, maybe at the library, and start working on one issue at a time.

You don't sound like you spend very much quality time with your dog. He seems to be a burden to you and your family so the best advice would be to find him another home. You haven't even told us his name. Does he have one?You state the dog is either a "he" or an "it". As for walking him 3 times a day, it actually should be more often.

My dad built a little cage under a desk a we keep our dog there when nobody is home. When you are not there you can turn on the tv so it dosent feel alone...dont worry my dog used to pee all over the carpet and chew shoes...When your dog does do that you need to tell it NO!!! and put it in the cage so he/she knows it was wrong..we did that to our dog whenever she would pee or chew.and now she is really obedent.when your dog does do something good you can say good girl/boy in a high voice and give it a treat so it knows it was good... I love my dog!!!! Good Luck

Owning a dog, or any animal takes work. Your dog sounds like he's suffering from seperation anxiety. Dogs are pack animals and they like for all "their pack" to be together. My best advise to you would be to find the dog a new home. It sounds like your family's lifestyle is too busy to own a pet. I'm really not trying to be mean or anything, but look at the situation from your dogs' point of view. What would you rather live with?

ok first, you are not walking your dog three times a day, he would not act the way he is if you were, find your dog a new home, would you ask someone to tell you the truth about my kid? no , you would find a way to fix the problems, get a dog trainer, walk the dog many times a day , and find a doggy day care or a friend that is home all day to be with your dog, if that to much find that poor dog a good home

Yes there is an answer to your problems get a small dog. If trained correctly they shouldn't cause problems. and they won't break leashes and they ussually don't attack other dogs cause they are too scared to.
