1) The 1% of priests worldwide or the 10% of priests in America ACCUSED of sex abuse (not all were proven guilty) has nothing to do with what the Catholic Church teaches. If the priest who is accused is guilty then it means that they did not follow what the Church teaches.

It's like how Judas Iscariot betrayed our Lord. It would not make any sense to reject the teachings of Jesus just because a man went against the teachings.

2) The Protestants have more than their share of scandals (sex, violence, etc) so they are being hypocritical for trying to act like they don't have any scandal when criticizing the Catholic Church. When I criticize Protestantism, I don't have to resort to calling them sinners. I only look at how the teachings from the top of the countless Protestant congregations has been getting farther and farther away from the original teachings which have been preserved in the Catholic Church for over 2,000 years.

The Church had 2 Nazi popes? The Church has saints that were killed by the Nazis during World War 2 because they were Catholic. Do you want to re-think that statement?

Priests do have one wife, and Her name is the Catholic Church. Admittedly, there have been too many who have turned to the priesthood as a means of escape from whatever problems they have: this is not an issue of celibacy, but of people taking advantage of the priesthood to hide from something that should be dealt with.

The Catholic Church is the true Church, and anyone who turns from it because Catholics are sinners is a hypocrite. It is inevitable that the devil will attack that which is holiest. The Church is the victim of lies, misunderstandings, and hatred. Stay strong, brother and sister Catholics: God said that this would happen, but to fear not: "for the world has hated me first."

A lot of questions there. Let me start by simply agreeing that just because a man who expounds a teaching fails to follow that teaching does not mean that the teaching invalid, as any student of logic would tell you. Then I'll follow that up with asking why you are assuming that those who slam the Church for the actions of a few are using logic? Logic isn't involved - it's simple emotional revulsion!

To your point #2, let me point out that the Protestants are no more hypocritical than the aforementioned priests and probably less hypocritical than the Bishops and other Church authorities who willfully covered for them.

Lastly, the Catholic Church's teachings have NOT remained constant for over 2,000 years. They were changed dramatically quite recently by that scale. Since it is quite possible that the requirement that priests abstain from all sexual activity when it is against their nature is at least part of the cause of the misguided obsessions of however few, maybe (just maybe) it's time to change them again.

I'm not sure about the NAZI popes, but think about the fact that the Vatican was built in the same place (Rome) where your savior was nailed up to a torture/execution device which is now the symbol of your religion is an oximoron to say the least? What if he got the guillotine? And also, you are part of a religion which is famous for having the mentatlity that cheating on spouses, gluttony...or whatever you want on the weekdays, and then asking for forgiveness on the weekends is all fine and dandy. Don't get me wrong, the catholics do a myriad of great things for the world when their hearts are in the right places, but as a whole they are by no means perfect? And back to the question of the child molesting priests, who did people look at like they were all heathens and terrorists right after 9/11? The Muslims. And they likewise not all bad...but none the less it's human nature to associate as such.

I think the arguement is that since the Catholic church is a very authority based organization, that the fact that the clergy "tolerating" the acts of a few individual priests reflects more poorly on the hierarchy itself than if they were a less authoritative structure. There's no "Head" of protestantism for example.

I don't confuse the sins of some priests with what the Catholic church teaches. I say that because the church traditions make the commands of God to no effect they are partially responsible for the sexual sins of the Priests.

1 Corinthians 7:2 But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.

1 Timothy 3:1 Faithful is this word: If anyone aspires to the position of a bishop, he desires a good work. 2 It is necessary, therefore, for a bishop to be irreproachable, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, well-behaved, hospitable, skillful at teaching;

But the Catholic church has just picked up where the Jewish Pharisees left off.

Matthew 15:1 Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem approached Jesus, saying, 2 "Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands whenever they eat bread." 3 He answered and said to them, "Why do you also transgress the commandment of God on account of your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, 'Honor your father and your mother'; and, 'He who curses father or mother, with death let him die.' 5 But you say, 'Whoever says to his father or mother, "It is a gift to God, whatever profit you might have received from me"-- 6 then by no means should he honor his father or mother.' Thus you have nullified the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition. 7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying, 8 'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and they honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far away from Me.

The Catholic church says "Faithful is this word: If anyone aspires to the position of a bishop, he desires a good work. 2 It is necessary, therefore, for a bishop to be irreproachable, and NOT the husband of one wife,

Because the catholic church has not dealt with this problem. The church has protected these criminals. The members have not risen up against their church leaders , so that makes all Catholics guilty of the same crime. They have to deal with this-or it will never go away.

Because Catholics have preists. Protestants have Pastors and Reverends. Why are you attacking fellow Christians? Are you trying to say that the Catholic Church is better? I beg to differ. LMAO, you guys had 2 Nazi popes.
