ive been giving blood since i was 17...im 22 now. ive never had any problems.
this is what goes down, first they prick your finger to check your iron level. if thats good, they ask you questions and check your blood pressure. if that all clears, then youre good to give blood.
the needles isnt very big so dont worry. when they put the needle in your arm, you feel a slight pinch and then it feels like a slight burning but once its in, you barely feel it.
they give you a squeezy ball usually to keep the blood flowing through your arm. the actual blood giving only lasts about 5 to 10 minutes. they pull out the needle fairly quickly so all you feel is another light burning-type sensation for about 2 seconds.
and thats it! some people feel a bit weak afterwards or a bit dizzy so they usually give you some juice and cookies and make you sit for about 15 minutes or so before you leave.
its easy and painless and you never know who youre going to help so please give blood!

The thought of it hurts worse than the actual needle stick. Have youevery gotten a shot? Needles are about the 1 1/2 inches long maybe 2 and the worst part is sitting there for 15 minutes. Just don't look at your arm. You may feel a bit dizzy/lightheaded give anyway!

Giving blood is easy. I do it every chance I can. the needle hurts just as much as any other needle. But look at it this way. It hurts for less then a second and you could be saving someones life. God bless you.

It doesn't really hurt that much..
They usually use an 18 Gauge needle..The only pain you feel is the stick of the needle..it is like a pinch that lasts for like 5 seconds and it isn't really intense...
After that..the donation should not be painful..if it is..it might mean the needle has come out of the vein..in which case they would take it out and try another vein
But I would say that the 5 seconds of pain is definetely worth saving someone's life...
Good Luck!

First it will hurt. Not alot ,but some. You can handle it!
The needle is bigger than when you get a shot because of blood flow. All in all it is well worth it.

the needles get smaller all the time so you can barely feel them. Once the needle is in you cant feel anything. Just don't look when they are poking you and you will be fine. Speaking as a needle phobic who is still breathing.

From one neddle phobic, ask for a BUTTERFLY NEEDLE (they are small!!)Ask to lay down so you don't pass out - it helps, trust me. When I was pregnant I had to have this done a few times, and I passed out the first time because I was sitting up. It really doesn't hurt (just don't look at it). You can do this!!!

It's not that bad, if you've ever had to have blood drawn from a lab in a hospital, it's no bigger than that. But if you haven't, it's not bad, it takes about 1/2 hour to an hour, depending on how busy they are. Just do it, it's for a good cause.

Not bad at all! Just be sure to eat a full meal at least 3 hours before you go, and plenty of water.
