yes because it contains a substance called theobromine which is toxic to dogs and can cause sickness, diarrhoea, convulsions and sometimes death.

NO IT'S NOT!!! Everything must be given (either to human or animal) in moderation. My dog's FAVORITE treat is Oreo cookies. She can hear the "rusle" of a bag a mile away and she'll come running. Do I giver her 4 or 5 every day? Absolutely not. But 4 or 5 every single day for us as humans would be very bad for us just like it would be for her. She has 1, maybe 2, usually two or three times in a month. And in 3 years, it has yet to kill her (or even cause any stomach discomfort).
Everything must be done in moderation.
PS It's the caffeine in chocolate they say is bad. It raises their heart rate faster than the body can handle and they end up having a heart attack. It's not that chocolate isn't digestible.

Absolutely NOT. My dog has been eating chocolate for years, and he is still very much alive. I'm sure that too much chocolate every day would eventually harm your dog, but once in a while won't hurt him/her. My dog has chocolate all the time, I would never give my dog something to harm him.

Chocolate is most definitely bad for dogs. The theobromine in chocolate causes multiple organ problems. It will effect to heart, liver and kidneys. The worst kind is bakers chocolate, it contains the highest level of theobromine. Milk chocolate the lowest, while white chocolate does not contain it.

Chocolate contains ingredients that are toxic to many pets, especially dogs. Depending on the type of chocolate, the size of the dog, and the quantity consumed, a seemingly small amount can be lethal.

Yes! It is very bad for dogs! Don't even give them a m&m or something with a little bit of chocolate because they can't handle it. If they eat too much, they could possibly die.

There's a chemical called theobromine in chocolate, and in large doses (about two bars for a lab and half a bar for a chihuahua) it is toxic for the dog. There's too much acid for the lining of their stomachs in onions, but grapes, unlike someone said, are NOT bad. Also, hot tamales are NOT GOOD FOR YOUR DOG WHATSOEVER. Please, everyone remember that if you eat it, it's probably not for your dog. I reccomend dry food mixed with wet food. But only for DOGS. The food you buy has been specially formulated for canine needs. Ask your vet if you're unsure.

It definitely gives them terrible gas! We found out when our dalmatian ate a batch of chocolate chip cookies that it takes a lot of chocolate to kill a big dog, but even a little bit can mess up their GI tract.

chocalate is very very harmful to dogs! there's is an ingredient called theobromine in chocolate, that is very poisonous for dogs, even horses. so dont EVER feed a dog chocolate! but if you can possibly find any chocolate without any theobromine, then chocolate is perfectly safe!
