It is for a friend from my past (20 years ago), we aren't really close anymore, but I still care about her.
I won't be able to attend the wedding, it's in another state, but would like to send a gift. Any ideas?

You can't go wrong with a gift card to where they are registered at. We recieved many $50 gift cards from Target and Sears but I'd say you spend what you feel comfortable with and what your budget can afford. If you want to get something more personable - try Things Remembered for a personalized gift. They have great wedding gifts.

That's nice that you still care after 20 years! Most people can't maintain relationships for 20 weeks, much less 20 years! Anyway, probably the easiest thing to do would be to check to see if she's registered and purchase something off the registry. If you'd rather not use the registry, the items she has chosen might give you an idea about her and her fiance's taste.

I'm not a big Gift Certificate person as I don't think that they require enough thought and personality. I'd say to find out her registry and spend around $50 with shipping if it's won't break the bank. If her invite and location are particularly formal then you'll want to spend closer to $75-$100.

Good luck in your search!

You can spend from $20 to $50 for a present, or buy a whole bunch of the smaller items on the list. Some people don't like to buy these items because they are little for them to give the happy couple.

Send a gift earlier, i'd probably spend maybe $50 or so; a vase or water jug or something she will use, and send a bunch of flowers on the day.
You can't go wrong with flowers, and she'll love you for them!

All the best!

It doesn't really matter how much you spend just as long as its a nice gift. Maybe a series of dinner gift certificates for the two... or... An espresso machine... something along those lines that not everyone will be getting them

send a cheque at least that way she can go add that money into their account and decide what she wants to do with it. You can't go wrong with that I believe because she can do whatever she wants with the money and she can go to any stores she wants unlike buying gift certificate...it's like urrrggghhh... i don't really want anything from there but oh well i have to spend this? u know what i mean. and with your cheque should be a nice card about friendship.

Spend whatever you would like to spend. Check weddingchannel.com to see if they have a registry. I would not send a check or gift card, though-- gift cards are impersonal gifts if she was a friend of yours and money is something the older generation gifts to the younger, not peer to peer.

If she has a registry, then see what they have open. But you could go to like Ross and get her a crystal (its not princess house) pitcher or something like that. There not expensive. Just go to the mall and check out what they have there. There is always something nice and cute that is not expensive. Remember its the thought that matters.

Pick something from the couple's registry and have it mailed directly to them. That is the easiest thing for you and you know they will get exactly what they want.
