I was wondering if you could train a Vizsla to be a guard dog... sounds a little freaky, I know, but I just was wondering. I already know they make great family and hunting dogs, but as to the guard factor... I'm not so sure.

I wouldn't worry, almost all dogs will guard their territory. Even my Whippets will become rather ferocious if they think someone is outside our house. A Vizsla will too, you might be surprised.

Any dog can be trained at any age. Contact your vet to find a "puppy pre-school" that will get you started. In my area, there are several provided by Petsmart, Petco, and the local community college. All are around $100. They teach basic discipline and commands for a well behaved and well socialized pet. There are advanced classes also available.

Some dogs are to sweet to be guard dogs. I tought my bulldogs to be on the watch. Everytime there was a sound that was suspisious I would ask my dogs in a "what was that?" over and over than they learned to pay attention to the sounds. When they saw that it bothered me then they payed attention.

some doggies are extra animate approximately what they want. the only element u can do is artwork with it on a daily basis with the aid of beginning with the aid of leaving the cage open and letting it bypass out and in of it because it feels comfortable and compliment compliment whilst he is going in. After he gets comfortable entering into on hes own for a pair days attempt shutting the door yet no longer latching, ultimately he will come to love his (den) and could be ok entering into as quickly as he figures out that u are unlikely to go away him there. yet in basic terms you need to stay at it each thing takes time and he remains very youthful and use tolittermates. desire this helps mine bypass in with out situation now, additionally supply the crate a acceptance like buggy or residing house and constantly use a playful voice whilst telling him to bypass in or praising him for entering into own his own.
