The education system of high schools ( which once you get into it, you'll realize NOT actual high shcool, middle school, elementary, but all entertwined in one big facility ) you can spend hours and hours just talking about it, Im sure it will make for an interesting project. you can analyze the pluses and the minuses of doing it that way, It is WAY different from american system of secondary education. Plus its fun
good luck

I'd write about Russian folk art - many people heard of matreshka dolls or unique Russian samovars but not many people know the history and meaning of it.

You can also write about Gzhel painting, Zhostovo trays, Palekh and Mstera painting on wood, Khokhloma art or even Lomonosov porcelain.

I think you'd also greatly enjoy making a research on Russian folk fairy tales which are the reflections of Russian culture, mentality and history.

You'll be able to find much information on Internet.
Good luck!

Hey
I am from Europe and I can fluently speak in Russian.
How about if you did something about music like balalaia or the dances or how about the cuisine like borscht. You could also think about doing a project about ice hockey. The possibilities are endless. Russia is a great country with a rich history and is known to the world with its great and unique cultures.
Hope I helped,
cutie

Do an essay on Tula, a factory town that made Mosin Nagant rifles for the WW2 effort. Compare 1930's Tula with modern day Tula, contrast the economic base from a war factory town to the town it is today.

One of the biggest issues concerning Russia today are the restrictions of freedoms (particularly of the media) and the criticism Russia has been getting from the West about it. President Putin basically jails any journalists who say things he doesn't like, and shuts down any TV station whose news program doesn't say how awesome he is. He claims that Russia has its own version of democracy, and that's why things are the way they are. You could study the details about what has been happening and asses his claim about the appropriateness of this type of democracy for Russian society.

Vodka study!

I'm quite serious... so much of their culture revolves around social bonding associated with drinking vodka.

Good luck! Dosvidanya!

Ask the Russians why their food squeaks when it's finished cooking. I always wondered about that.
