They pretty much start going into heat around that time. Thats how early it can be.

There is a big variance in the time a dog will go in heat,
but as a standard, you can expect her to come in heat between 7 and 9 months of age.
You can usually "see" when she is in heat, her personal area will become very swollen, and she will be cleaning herself in that area continuously.
She will be in heat for a full 21 days, so you will have to make sure she is kept away from all males.
You would be amazed at the obstacles they can climb, dig, crawl, chew or jump over to get with a male. Of course the male is doing just as much to get to her.
She will be much, much too young to breed.
She should have a heat about every 6 to 8 months.

Probably around 8 or 9 months old. You have lots of time to get her into the vet's and get her spayed.

My neighbors went into heat around 6 months but their Black lab didnt untill she was a year.

She is old enough now that she can be spayed so that you can avoid the mess of her first heat and potential pregnancy.
