Yes. The bible speaks against witchcraft and sorcery. While I don't think there's anything wrong with reading a good fictional story like Harry Potter, if you read non-fiction stuff and fill your mind with it, you need to examine yourself to see if you are in the faith. A true Christian hungers for God's word, and furthermore, witchcraft & sorcery are real and they are satanic (even though the practicioners of them usually deny Satan's existence).

well. . . LOL, it's not good. But you are a Christian (even if you don't feel like reading the Bible) and you should read the Bible. Different people have to study it in different ways to "get it" and to "get into it." Ask God for help, but you do need to let go of this witchcraft and wizardy thing. Our God is against it because He knows that it can be very harmful to you and it will slowly pull you away from Him. Besides that, wanting to read it more than the Bible makes it an idol in your life. The first step to take is to ask God to make you want to read His Word and to abandon what you need to abandon. It's understandable that you may not want to right now, but you should at least recognize the need to want to for you relationship with Christ.
much love!

It may be wrong to your faith, yes. But can you be faulted for your curiosity in the subject... I think not. Besides... I am a Christian and there is no bible in my house... and if there was, it would probably be with all my other fiction books. I think that makes it clear that I don't view the bible as anything more that fiction (and kind of poorly written at that) but... I digress. I think simply reading those kind of books shouldn't be a problem... but it may if you decide to start practicing. I have no problem with that personally, but I'm probably already in enough trouble for my "bible" talk... so I'll just leave it at that.

Apparently you technically aren't supposed to be interested in it and supposedly it is embedded in your brain that it is bad. Only in reality there is nothing wrong with Wicca it's really about nature, it is the person that will make anything bad. And besides it is something different for you to learn about you are just being curious. There is nothing wrong with understanding other religions and having an open mind. You may want to change religions if your interests lean much towards Wicca, but I would learn a lot more about the religion and ask yourself if this is something that just interests you or you really want to change. This is a personal choice completely you won't find the answers from anyone else. And lastly Wizards? are you reading Harry Potter or actual religion books?

Yes, it shows that witchcraft and wizardry is your idol. Secondly, if you look up works of the flesh, witchcraft, idolatry, and soothsayers in the concordance these scriptures should enlighten you. God is a jealous God and he wants you to put nothing before him. You should be feeding yourself the Word of God to grow spiritually. You either serve God or mammon. A little leaven leaveth the whole lump....sooner or later you will begin to dabble in witchcraft yourself. Again, the bible houses all you need to know about witchcraft. Just look it up. Make sure you ask God to forgive you for being more interested in witchcraft and to guard your mind. Also, look up false teachers, false prophets, fables, lies, and genealogies. I hope I was of some help.

Why would a Christian want to? We don't learn about the false by studying it, we learn about what is true to be able to recognize the false.
Secret Service agents in training for detecting counterfeit money study the real money, not counterfeits. When they see counterfeits, they are readily detected.
Same with the Christian faith. You don't look to the occult or the cult to understand error. You study the truth, the Word of God.

I have experienced this one, and yes it is wrong for a Christian to read about cults and other religions out of curiosity . There is a difference of one learning outside thier faith to gain knowledge and learning outside thier faith to perhaps discover something better or see what the world is discovering.
A Christian lives in this world but is not of it, and in scripture, Deuteronomy, it is clear that we are to stay away from practicing any divination or spiritism in any form.
I stepped outside of my faith and got myself into trouble. Spiritually. I was weak and answers from God were not coming fast enough to my liking or being answered the way I wanted.
It was a lONG ROAD to RECOVERY because I have experience things that someone would never believe unless it happend to them... I wouldn't want this on my worst enemy.
Evil isn't just a made up monster in the movies... It is real and please if you are going to learn about this, talk to your pastor who can guide you in what you need or should know so that you can better equip yourself against the enemy.

Well I guess it depends on why you want to read about them. I don't know much about the bible but, I do know that you aren't supposed to learn about other religions and witness for Christians and Christianity. I like to learn about a lot of things and I think that God made us that way, but if you want to learn about that so you can practice it, than no its not okay. That is just my opinion but you will probably have people who say NO.

I think they are very interesting subjects, and it is right to educate yourself in non-Christian matters as much as Christian ones. But be sure you aren't tempted off the path by alluring accounts of witchcraft. Be careful and have fun!
