I'd say the Tea. I can tell by the way my tea cup looks. I just started drinking Tea. I didn't see that with the diet pop. Darn!

Carbonic acid. not phosphoric, that's in the etch. Maybe it is phosphoric, I have to go read the label. Anyway, from both a staining aspect and cavity causing, diet coke is the worst. Green teas typically don't stain teeth like the brown tea will. Unless of course you're freebasing the green tea non-stop. Then get used to the nickname "old green teeth".

Neither are great. Diet coke has the sugar...eek for the teeth! And as you mentioned the discoloration, which is a whole different problem in it self. Here's what I say, drink which ever one you want. Make sure to keep it within moderation, but use a straw each time (or at least most of the time). That way the drink goes directly down your throat, bypassing your teeth and aliviating both of the problems while still letting you enjoy your drink.

the diet coke is and here's the reason. in order to be fizzy and delicious, sodas have to acidic. the acidity disolves the surface layer of the teeth slightly. the process is called etching. this increases the surface area and decreases the smoothness of the tooth, thus more opportunity for stain.
green tea is less acidic than diet coke so diet coke wins. if you come by my office i'll give you 2 teeth and let you try it for yourself.

Coke is much worse because it has acids in it that eats the enamel off of your teeth. Tea may discolor but, its much better for your health than coke. Tea has been around for thousands of years and has allot of health benefits. Coke is full of sugars, syrups, acids, and the ever so wonderfull aspertame that has been linked to cause many serious health problems such as Muscular Sclorosis / Distrophy, liver and kidney as well.

The coke would cause more staining than the tea, the acid in the soda is also not good for your teeth.

I think that tea would be worse...it is know to stain teeth...diet coke just replaces that orange juice or milk that you need for calcium and strong bones and teeth.
