I think there is two-fold - aethiests fell like they solved a puzzle in believeing that religion is a bunch od hooey. I think these particular one's actually followed Christianity literally and then started asking logical questions that they couldn't reconcile. So they want to 'prove' to everyone else that they are wasting thier time with religion.

or maybe its just me.. but heck, atleast i asked

I think you're quite right. First, a potential atheist sets up a simplistic set of beliefs, and then realizes that those beliefs don't hold together. Then, instead of doing the work to figure out what others have already figured out (they wouldn't have to figure things out themselves, just do some reading) they just announce "hooey" and lo, become an atheist.

The only thing that is true about Atheists is lack of belief in God, nothing else. You can stereotype a large group of people like that, it's wrong. Agnostics are unsure. Theists believe in a deity, or God, or many gods. A lot of my friends are atheists and they don't believe Religion is a bunch of hooey, it just don't work for their own belief systems to believe in a god, and that's it. As well, it's not just ex-Christians that are atheists, there are also ex-Muslims, ex-Jews, ex-Hindus, ex-Sikhs, ex-Zorastrianists, ex-Confuscists, ex-Buddh... nevermind, no one ever leaves Buddhism! MUHAHAHAHA! Actually, one of my friends is an ex-Buddhist atheist.

I was a Christian and then slowly, but surely, came to the realization that the Bible was riddled with errors and contradictions that no amount of faith could chase away. The more I tried to ignore them, the more they nagged at the back of my mind. Eventually, I had to accept that God was not real--not just the Christian God, but any God that humans worshipped. No evidence existed for any of them, but science could explain many things logically, in ways that left no room for miracles and magic.

Religion truly is a waste of time. It keeps people ignorant, gullible, and sheep-like so that they are easily misled and conned out of their money and their freedom. It kills the curiosity of children, forbidding them to ask questions or to test the outrageous claims of their parents. It stifles creativity and intellectual progress, encouraging people to accept that God causes everything to happen, instead of letting them find real, testable answers. In some cases, it drives people to do horrible things, from screaming their hatred of gays during public protests, to killing each other in holy wars. Do we really need all this? Isn't it time to abandon belief in the supernatural as a useless endeavor?

To those who think we are merely ignoring God's plan for our lives or whatever: That isn't the case at all. We simply do not believe that God exists. One cannot reject that which doesn't exist. Do you reject unicorns, dragons, and fairies in your lives?

Most atheist are homosexual. That's why they are so bitter at God. They actually believe in God-they just refuse to worship Him. Read Romans 1:18-32. Its a short read. It says that men totally reject God- and many of them become homosexuals. That's why they hate him/

I think the real issue with atheists is that they do not want to conform their lives to the way God wants them to live.

Therefore, it is easier to deny God's existence than to go around thinking your are living wrong. If their is no higher power, you can do whatever you want without consequence...'
as long as it doesn't huirt anyone.'

Atheists don't believe in any kind of greater power. They don't want to prove anything, and they don't try too. You can't prove god exists and they can't prove god doesn't.

Atheists don't believe in God, by definition.

Whatever, you think. Atheist can say whatever they want and God can not do any thing about it. God is not real.
