14 karat is nicer. But if you want a silver toned ring, then you need to get Platinum. The plating on white gold can wear off, platinum will maintain it's colour forever - it's a little more representative of a marriage (it lasts forever). : )

The amount of gold that's actually in the metal. 24 karat gold is pure gold, and very soft, so it's not usually made into jewelry. 14 karat is going to have more gold in it than 10 karat.

White gold is gold that's alloyed (mixed) with other metals, such as to lower cost and improve durability. 14 karat has a higher gold content in the mix, and 10 karat, a lower percentage of gold. Both are very nice and suitable for jewelry.

10 is not really gold it is gold painted. onthe other hand 14 is better cause it is all the way gold not painted
