A couple ways, ignore the dog for sure. Have the 'jumpee' raise his/ her knee what the dog tried it. Also try folding your arms over your chest and holding them out. Yelling "NO!" doesn't make sense to your dog. He sees "oh, i get attention when i do this, it must be good".

You can train her to not do it. When someone walks in the door and it jumps on people make sure she is listening to you and firmly say to the dog " No." Make sure not to yell or hit the dog!
You can go to the library and check out a few books on training you dog.........or go to the book store and buy one. The information will help you train you dog, so you will be proud of her. First tell the dog to get down and if it responds give it a treat; if not give the command down and gently push it down and remove the dog to another room until the dog learns to stay down off people visiting you. Sometimes this will take some time to accomplish, but with persistence, you will have a well behaved dog when people come to visit you.

You should get a good dog training book if you're not sure about anything. I recommend the ASPCA's complete guide to dogs. Some are harder to train than others, but most will pick up on this lesson in about a week, depending on how often you have visitors and how dedicated you are.
When a person comes to your door, have a treat handy, preferably one that the dog likes a lot. Hold your dog by the collar or a very short leash. Before opening the door, make your dog sit and verbally reward him/her for this. Allow your guest inside, keeping your dog sitting. Give the guest the treat and have him/her kneel next to the dog to introduce him/herself and give the dog the treat. And NEVER let your dog jump on ANYBODY in the house. if he/she likes to play like that, take him outside, so that he wont be confused about the rules of the house.

Just keep pushing him down and tell your dog no in a stern voice. Also never give him attention when he jumps up and always tell him how good he is when he doesnt jump.Stick to it. Its really hard to stick to .Never hit a dog your suppose to love them not hurt them and it can make them mean..I know some people use a water bottle and spray dogs when they jump and that helps too.Good luck

If you have a coller on him/her, then whenever people come to your house to visit, even if it's the pizza man, hold on to her collar so people can come in. Then say, "Good boy/girl" and give him/her a treat. This is what I do to my Great Dane and he listens just fine.

well, if she's really young you might have to pull her away and say very sternly, "NO." then you hold her really tightly so she doesn't get away. give her a treat whenever she doesn't jump on guests, but if your dog never stops doing it, you might have to use more force. then again, she maybe there is no stopping her. you'll have to wait until your dog growns up. if she's already grown up, uh-oh...
