Depends on what type of car you want to buy. For an older model, hard-to-find car, Ebay is a great place to shop. If you're looking for a late model car that dealers have a large supply of, do a little net research, email a half dozen dealerships, and buy from a dealer. You get better financing, if that applies to you.

To sell a car, if you have a Carmax near you, take it in to their store and get a bid. Then shop to other dealers the bid or sell it privately for $1K over the carmax bid.

A friend bought a car on E-bay, 1-1/2 years ago. We went to Pennsyvania from New York, to pick it up. My friend is very happy with the car. It is a Honda, in very good condition. It was purchased from an individual who rarely used the vehicle.

Every purchase is different. My friend talked and emailed the former owner of the car. The owner emailed photos fo the vehicle.

Every transaction is different. Some buyer/sellers may have great experiences, others may have horrible experiences. Buyer Beware!

Not only did I get a fine machine, but I made a friend as well.

I knew what I wanted in advance, and only needed to narrow my search to my location.

Then as fast as you can flick your mouse...I arranged to meet the car and owner, brought my deposit, and now it's in my driveway.

Always a pleasure driving that beauty.

I swear by ebay.
