I would love to learn the ins and outs of photography as a career..hands on. I would be very interested in working side by side with someone looking to teach a quick learner with a passion for the photography world.

Grand Valley used to offer a great variety of classes that you wouldn't think about. Go on line or call them for their class offerings. Or contact your local community college.
OR you could call a local, reputable photographer and ask his/her advise. Good luck.

Try volunteering at UICA or at least check into the programs that are offered there. They have use of darkrooms ect. and they also have others that excel in that medium. You may try and hook up with some of the local photo clubs as well. There really are quite a few. Another option is checkout "Ox-Bow" which is part of Chicago Art Institute I believe.
