What exactly is going on with this Israel conflict?

Self defense - if the Canadians fired rockets from Windsor into Detroit and we took out those rockets by occupying Windsor and destroying those weapons, then I don't think anyone can complain.

The Israeli's are doing the same thing here. Hezbollah occupies a lot of Lebanon, so to get to Hezbollah, you unfortunately have to fight and strike at those positions. Hezbollah also has this habit, like other terrorist groups, of hiding and grouping in the civilian areas and near UN positions. So accidents happen, sadly. The UN wasn't even doing a thing to enforce 1559, so they shouldn't have even been there. Kofi Annan is an idiot to have had them there still - and his inflammatory statements about the attack on the UN position, proves what a useful idiot he is to the Iran's, Syria's and North Korea's of the world.

I spent six months in south Lebanon in 1985/ 86. we were not sworn to secrecy or anything but we just didn't talk a lot about it. this isn't the first time the IDF have targeted the UN.
They don't Care. its indiscriminate fire out there if the IDF come under fire then they blast away at all locations.
Now any military mind knows how easy it is to set up a mortar or field gun from his coordinates to land or impact wherever he wants to hit.
The Israeli defense forces don't make mistakes The UN observers were in Lebanon when |I was there and i have to say they have a difficult job to report what they observe . now if you were killing and maiming Innocent civilians and an independent observer team saw you and you knew these observers were above reproach then what would you do.

And for my engineer friend there wasnt a single hizbolla fighter amal malita or anyone esle any where near us when we spent 6 hours in a shelter because of idf tank fire.
