I have already unpluged it, but some smoke is still coming out from the sides of it! Plus I put it outside in the backyard! Is it going to blow up or what!?

Is it really smoke or is it possibly steam? What were you cooking before you noticed the "smoke"? Did you cook it too long and therefor burn it causing the smoke? If you burnt food in it, just remove the food.

I never heard of this before. It may be that there is dried food residue inside your micro that burns and smokes from the heat generated when the micro is cooking. Another possibility could be that you are cooking food with a high liquid content and the liquid evaporates during cooking, causing the smoke. But if the smoke is coming from inside the micro itself and not the cooking compartment it could mean that there is some kind of short or exposed wiring. In that case you should stop using it and have it checked out, because any kind of defect with the circuitry is potentially hazardous. On the other hand, if you've had the micro for a while it might make more sense to consign it to the scrap heap and get a new one.

Hose it and the grass or trees around it, from as far away as you can, then stay away and watch it. Dispose of it tommorrow, after you are sure it is done smoking. Never use it again. If it is really smoking, or if your house or trees or shrubs are in danger,or if you have no hose, call the fire department and ask what to do. And next time call the fire department first, you couls have really burnt yourself bad.
Someone I know decided to carry a mattress down a stairwell, a patient had set a small fire in it. We told her not to, but she did it anyway. It flamed up again, on the side away from her, where she could not see. And there she was in the stairwell, no fire extinguisher. We called the fire department, and they gave her you know what about it.

Wearing an oven MIT and hold a pot holder, remove the burnt item from the microwave and put it into the sink and run water into it. next figure out if there's a problem with the microwave or if you cooked the item too long. You might have to replace the microwave or have it fixed.

If you unplugged it, it is most likely safe. Just watch it for an hour or so to be certain s0mething is not smoldering inside it. Then go out tomorrow and buy a new microwave! Happy shopping!

You didn't put metal in it did you? Even a twist-tie will be enough to set off a lightning storm of arcing inside.

You did the smart thing by unpluging it and takeing it outside. It will not blow up I would not take it back into the house and use it again. It has seen it's better days. Your best bet is to buy another one.
