German Shepards because they are loyal, sweet, protective, and a great friend!

No way a husky will ever be like a shepherd, although they can make great family pets. Of all the dogs, Huskies are the closest to the wolf. For thousands of years they have been selectively bred to survive in the harshest of climates and to do only one thing for man - PULL. Once in a while, a more trainable husky came along and he would turn left or right on command, so he got to be the lead dog.

On the other hand, German Shepherds and other herding dogs have been bred for traits that allow them to protect our livestock, families and property. They are able to obey very complicated commands and are very responsive to what we want. This is not a knock on Huskies - just a good reason to choose a breed that fits in with your lifestyle!

It depends on what you're looking for in a dog. Huskies are harder to train and obedience courses are a must from the beginning for owners with low or moderate experience, where German Shephards are generally easy to train because they're intelligent, responsive and able to focus easily. Huskies do better in the country where they can roam and are usually friendly with both people and other dogs, while German Shepherds need to be sociallized often and early and do well just about anywhere as long as they are properly exercised. Both have special grooming needs-because of the length of their fur they need to be brushed several times a week, daily if they're shedding- special exercise needs-they need to be walked/run preferably 3 times a day-and both are good watchdogs. The German Shepherd is larger than the Husky.
If you are looking to get one, a reputable breeder is a must because of the high risks of behavioral and physical problems if not bred properly.

It all depends where you live. The husky is more of a cold climate dog. It's very active, needs a lot of exercise. Do you have the time and the climate. Now German Shepherds can live in most kinds of climate, needless to say that they are great with kids, loyal, protective, amorous, and best of all easily trained. Good Luck with your new pup if you decide to get one. Be strong and train him or her from the start. They are very intelligent.

Depends on if you have children. Most dog bites for kids are done by German Sheperds (Parent Magazine a couple of months ago). I had a Husky as a teenager and the only person he bit was my mother (he did it lightly) when she was beating my sister. He was a great dog. Huskies by nature are team workers and therefore can handle having more then one 'boss.' Because they are programmed for large social interaction and team work they also understand respect and rules. My husky had his own cat for instance. German Sheperds on the other hand thrive off of one on one interactions and do not play nice with other pets. GS are good dogs in the right circumstances.

I have a Siberian Husky. They are very stubborn and really have their own mind. I am not her master. I am her friend. A German Shepard, on the other hand, is a people pleaser and quick to learn. They have very different personalities and temperments. Also, don't get either if you live in super hot areas, the GSD I know in FL are roasting now, as is my SH.

depends on preference... they are both incredibly loyal. The thing you have to watch out for is if you are a neat freak huskies will shed like crazy and shepards only blow their coat twice a year.
