Congrats on trying to quit smoking. I quit a little over two years ago. Handling the withdrawl symptoms is never easy but there are some things you can try using to make it a little easier to bear.

You might try using a nicotine patch (this worked for me) or gum, and find a support group that you can turn to when things get difficult. I used a site called quitnet.com (link below) and they have many members who have quit smoking and can give you support and suggestions of what to do to help you make it through the difficult times. Also, they offer items that might help you keep your commitment to quitting. They also have a fake cigarette with a replacable mint flavor core that helps me when I get the urge to have a smoke.

Always remember that you have to really be committed to quitting to make it. If you're not, then it won't matter what you use.

I wish you the best of luck and keep trying! It's never easy but the rewards are worth it! I feel better now than I ever did while I was smoking!

Chewing on drink straws will help you cope with the fixation I think...

As for the nicotine fit, eat a chocolate bar and drink a coke. That works for me-- I think it is because of the caffeine boost. However, it can lead to a minor caffeine addiction... but that is easier to break than a nicotine addiction.

Well that depends on what you want. If you really want to quit, there are many options. If you want to stay off the butts, try cleansing your system with eating apples , drink alot of water, exercise, try distraction , everytime an urge hits jump up and do something to take your mind off it. there are patches, gum, fake cigarettes. I quit and the only thing that worked for me was cold turkey, get the drug out of my system and used all the above techniques. Also , call a friend who is willing to talk with you until the urge passes. Join cigarettes anonymous groups. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do and I smoked 2 and one half packs a day, if I can do it anyone can. You have to want to quit. Good Luck, HON!!

I think Obama intends on hitting the panic button period, he will be in his father's land when we all explode here. Obama's change, he has never explained and some do not care, but his change you can bet will not be good for America. I do not think Obama is the best man running, I think he will be the one "running" when we are all under attack.

You should chew really minty chewing gum. It's really cheap and it takes away some of the thought. After a while the dependency will become less and less intense. Good luck!

Drink lots of water and keep telling yourself, "it will get better" because it will, the first 2 weeks are the worst but I know you can do it. I found eating lots of fresh fruit helped too, apples and grapes and stuff. You can do it!
