It really just depends on the apartment complex. Some will, and some won't. I recomend from personal experience not to mention to the manager that your dog is a German Shepherd. Most apartment complexes that allow large dogs will not allow a German Shepherd due to the myths about their aggression. I recomend stating that she is a "Lab mix", and playing dumb about what breed she is mixed with. Just say that you adopted her from someone, and don't know what breed she really is. Of course, this works a lot better when the German Shepherd is on the small side, and is actually mixed with an unknown breed. It's hard to be believable when you are trying to pass off a 100 lb purebred Shepherd as a "Lab mix"!
Most apartments will at least insist on a pet deposit (some part of it is usually nonrefundable) of at least $300, and some will also charge a "pet rent" of $15-30 a month in addition to the regular monthly rent.
If it is a small privately owned apartment complex, it might be possible to talk the owner into accepting your dog, even if they normally do not allow the breed, as long as your dog is well trained, housebroken, and pleasant around other dogs and people.
Hope this helps!

That is something that you have to check with the actual complex. Each one is kinda different that way. There are some that will let you have any pet of any size in them and there are others that have weight limits and others that don't allow any at all. So the best bet is to check with you manager and find out. The other thing to be aware of is if they do allow pets, most often they are going to require a deposit for the pet being there like if they have to replace carpets or something like that.

some places will allow a pet if you leave a deposit, and some places actually charge a "pet rent" in addition to regualar rent. Call around and see what your options are. I think it would be quite difficult to sneak a dog in..how will you walk him? AND...if you get caught...you and your dog will be homeless..better play it safe and get a place that will let you have a dog.
