It is in their nature to do this, but you should be very careful about letting them out on these expiditions because it can be very dangerous. Most cats are fine out in the 'wild', but even the wileyest cats can get hit by a car or snagged by a larger animal looking for a meal. Cats can get into all sorts of places, and that includes places that are dangerous or that they have a hard time getting out of. Often in the country, where cats are generally allowed to run free, they will curl up under a car or even under the hood of a car, and the owner will start the car and that will be the end of the kitty.

So... it's up to you whether or not you let your cat out - and it is certainly up to your cat after that about when he will come home, but if you love your cat as much as I love mine, you will treat them similar as you would to a small child and never let them outside to wander off or play alone.

definite. And after July a million this year the State government has desperate that one and all cats could be registered with the community council, comparable as canines. they're nonetheless making up their minds over how lots to charge cat vendors, will they provide a substantial decrease fee for desexed cats and so on, will they charge the comparable as canines registration which may well be a ripoff because of the fact cats are not getting the comparable advantages from the councils like doggie parks, leash-loose aspects, and so on. that's in Australia via the way, the government is putting their palms into your pocket for all time, basically final week they floated the belief of taxing oxygen interior the ambience yet quickly dropped the suggestion while they realised that individuals could merely plant shrubs everywhere and get the air for no longer something!

Sometimes cats do wander off for a day or two. There are situations where cats being curious end up getting stuck in garages of neighbors or even in trunks of cars. If your cat is older and has never been one to wander, I would recommend looking around the neighborhood and asking people if they have seen or heard your cat.

you ever hear "curiosity killed the cat"? Cats are roamers and explorers by nature. While a fixed cat will tend to stay closer to home than an unaltered feline, especially a male, they will still roam in search of prey, or simply from they explorational natures.
Indoor cats live longer for many reasons. They are less likely to die violently, of course, since it is unlikely you have cars and viscious dogs roaming your house. One bigger reason is they are much less likely to contract communicable diseases such as heartworm and rabies. And you can rest assured that your cat will not roam far away and get lost.
If you choose to let them roam free, it is always a good idea to get them microchipped since cat collars are easily removed for safety reasons.

Yeah, sometimes they leave home to get out and be what they are...cats. They may go out and hunt prey and other things, or to just roam around. More than likely when they are done with what they want to do, they will come home. But if they are gonna for longer than 4 weeks I would start looking and stuff.

I dunno...my kitty always comes back. But, before she was neutered she would stay out later having sex with other cats.

Yeah, I think neutered or not they go on hunting expeditions. Mine alway came back dragging some kind of critter they caught.

Yea then tend to do that ever once in a while I once had like 20 cats and I am sure they all did it before the landlord told us we had to get rid of them. lol we had to many because of our girl cat named Ashely kept getting pregnant.

Yes. I think it is their nature. Ours (neutered) would sometimes bring home a small rodent or bird it caught.
