A term that originated with people that ride horses, since you are supposed to brush them and groom them after a workout; now used to refer to the way a promiscuous woman looks.

Probably came from the horse industry...a horse that's been "rode hard and put away wet" will look awful and be unfit due to lack of care and grooming...

Yeah, it's from a horse being rode hard and not cooled down and brushed off before being put in it's stall.

This is rodeo or horse terminology, If you ride a horse and put them away all sweaty before cooling them out, they often get sick and when you get sick you normally look awful or worn out. This is a way of describing someone who is sexually used up or "been around the block" too many times
