The DVD player, by a long shot. (Even though I have had the VCR for much longer, and have more stuff for it. I find I've been watching TV shows on DVD, whereas most of my tapes are movies. I like the DVD interface more, but will probably be watching more tapes when I've finished this go-through of Buffy.)

DVD Player. Better picture, better sound, smaller footprint. No more stuck'jammed tape, re-wind, and worse of all the "flashing 12:00" after a power outage if you know what I mean.
