iam 26 at present. I completed my electrical engineering degree at 24. I have had 2 jobs the past 2 years each one lasting 9 months each. I still live with my parents. Iam in debt for 15k. I cant seem to get off the ground. I feel helpless. Iam also a loner. I do not have many friends where i live. I only have 2 friends from school. And they live quite far from where i stay. Iam currently trying to get a decent job, but i seem to screw up every interview i go to. All these events have led me to believe that iam no good at anything.By the way english is also not my first language. And i figure this is why i dont have a job yet. What should i do?

Seek out corporations that deal with the country of your Mother tongue, you will have the edge to get that job!

Of course, maybe you should switch to a different career. I graduated with a degree in one thing, but hated that field once in it. I switched to a totally different career for a year....then switched AGAIN....to a career field I had never even thought of, and now I have found my dream job.

In a nutshell, don't give up and don't be too proud to try something different.

Don't do the home base job, all they want is money.

You need help with the English language, I would get a book or magazine and start reading aloud. You can also get some CD or DVDs that teach the English language.

You need to practice interviewing, find out where the nearest unemployment office is. They have classes in interviewing "How To Perfect The Interview". If you can't do that, set down with someone that can be objective. Most of the time mom, is a bad idea. Go to your father or friends or a teacher at school.

Two jobs in 2 years, not bad and not great. Next job, after you learn how to perfect the interview. Ask if the positions Temporary or Permanent.

Last thing: You graduated with a engineering degree, the last thing you should be feeling is depressed or insecure. Wow, that's a hard degree to get.
Just do the things listed above.

Reminds me a little of myself a while back. I was having trouble finding a job, and was a loner because I simply seemed to have trouble getting to know people (ie.. was shy).
It sounds like you may possibly be kind of shy yourself, and that coupled with your difficulty with english might be the problem with your interviews.
For one thing, before an interview starts, try to think about the positive stuff about you. What do these two friends say about you? What about your family? Hang onto those, and get help with your resume (have you checked with the career placement department at your school about stuff like that?). For you it'll be tough, but in the interview, you have to win over the interviewer. Thinking yourself good at nothing will cripple yourself. I wish I could give you some great piece of advice about conquing this, but I have none. But just the regular stuff, like give a firm handshake, make eye contact with the interviewer, dress appropriatly, and make sure your not looking around the room too much. Hopefully the interviewer will forgive you for your difficulty with english.
And getting out there to make friends is something you'll have to do too. Unfortunatly, I can't help much here either, except by saying try out places that you are interested or feel comfortable, like if you are an electrical engineer, try frequenting places for such things, like electronics stores and such. Hey, maybe you can even make some money by trying to get a job as a teachers' aid, or some type of assistant at your school, that is, if you're anywhere near it.

English not being your first language means nothing. You are making a whole lot of assumptions based on no evidence at all. Challenge your thinking, no one is bad at everything it is impossible. Its sounds like you are depressed which lowers your self esteem and makes it hard to get along with other due to low frustration tolerance. Please see a doctor and get some medication for depression before you sink too far down. You have 2 friends more then an awful lot of people who are not so fortunate. They have neither friends nor family. Think of the whole of humanity as your family. I do. People are friends I haven't met yet. Good Luck Hon!! There is alot of competition for jobs these days, you are not alone. Helplessness, hopelessness are first signs of depression,Take my advice and see a doctor, you will feel a 100% better. There is no shame in failing at something, but not trying is a waste. There is also no shame in having depression, millions do and it is not there fault.

there are agencies for people who have troubles like yours. in fact there is one right across the street from where i live. some work with people who are ESL. (english second language) some work with people who have other issues. these people can work with you to help you with interview skills, help you figure out where you went wrong on the job and help you to find a new job. look in the yellow pages or go to your local employment (unemployment centre) and they will tell you where these agencies are.

perhaps yu could also get funding to take some more english courses if it would help you get work. these agencies might be able to help you with this. it is possible that this is affecting your work as it would cause you to make mistakes.
