Heya - ok here in Ireland our national Animal Protection is the NSPCA - national society prevention cruelty to animals.
The website is www.nspca.ie.
Alternatively you can get a number for your local branch from the operator.
Im an active member, and throughtout the year they hold fundraisers etc to raise money such as walks/specialised cards of their rescued animals at xmas etc.
However - if you do intend to get involved with these charities - be prepared to be heartbroken - they send you brochures of animals they need rehomed - showing before and after pictures - the before ones will reduce you to tears. Like you, I cant understand how people can starve and abuse these animals - their punishment should be to be treated the way these treat these animals - not a poxy €100 fine.
good luck and try and encourage as many people as you can to help these organisations

animal testing is becoming less and less. I don't agree with it, but sometimes its necessary because humans can do testing on them selves but if these humans die because of some testing its murder so these animal testers take the safe option and test on animals, in my opinion don't protest, you could get hurt, try registering to get tested on yourself, this is usually safe but with side effects like a rash alternatively protest directly to the government or the testers on animals, protesters rarely get any where and like I said get hurt in the process. The biggest problem we have these days, is the fur trade this is not getting less and less and needs people like you to support the campain. this really is unnecessary and very cruel, they skin animals like cats and dogs alive! just to sell coats, not to find cancer cures for humans, bastards!!!

well here's the thing. cruelty to animals is clearly atrocious behavior. but the question is what constitutes cruelty?

if you're thinking you want to protest people neglecting household pets, etc., i'm not sure there are any groups for that.

if you're way out there and want to protest the killing of barnyard animals for food, then PETA is right up your alley.

(that's people for the ethical treatment of animals, not people eating tasty animals, which i think is preferable)

you might see if ireland has a PETA or humane society organziation. I am not Irish, so I don't know. I do love Jameson, however. Although, I hear the Irish prefer Powers.
