Well i am a black gurl and my hair is pretty long. I don't wear weave. I don't wash my hair very often because black people hair is very dry so we have to make sure our hair is moisterized. If you comb your hair everyday and make sure you moisterize it instead of putting a lot of grease in it. That should help it grow. You shouldn't wash everyday (if your black) at least once a week. Every two weeks wouldn't hurt either. If you are black, it is good to get your hair trimmed every three months. My mom and my sister does hair. I don't mean to sound races but black people have a diffrent grade of hair.

if you take good care of your hair, it tends to grow about a half inch every month. do weekly deep conditionings if you have dry, brittle hair and get regular trims to remove split ends. it'll probably take 10 months to a year to get 5 inches of growth.
