yes first you take their ideology of violence tell them if they want something do it thro diplomacy....show them what they are doing and how they are killingtheir own people and try to use religion, so if they are muslim show them verses in the qur' an that says no to violence (if there is a verse) and then when you did this disarm them.

if it's strictly military solutions you go for the leaders and the support base (the people) and they will collapse but it's easier said than done.

The best way to stop international terrorism is to stop participating in it . America is the only state in the world that has been accused of internatal terror by the UN's international's courts . Terrorism that is directed at western powers does not arise from jelousy but from vendetta's created from our imperialistic gains of the regions . If we are to stop terror we must stop it's source which is not religeon or jelousy, it's the actions that our goverment undertakes against civilians of the region, by far we have destroyed millions of homes and are responsible for at least 350 times the ammount of people who died on 9/11.

Only way to fight terrorism is with terrorism. Conventional means are usually ineffective as you see in Lebanon.

A terrorist could be anyone so the civilian population has to be targeted which turns public opinion away.

You need to identify the root cause of the terrorism. Poverty is one cause and can be mitigated with time. Religious fanaticism is another root cause. Education is a possible solution for that but many people don't want to open their minds.

every case is different. northern Ireland has cooled down. but things are still going strong in Sri Lanka, in Chechnya, in the Basque regions, and I've heard things aren't looking too good in Iraq or Afghanistan either.

Kill all the enemy, starve them of arms and funds. Or build schools and roads and make it so they can't recruit a new generation of terrorists because they don't want to fight.
