You won't go to Hell if you ask Jesus Christ to forgive you and to come into your heart, make Him Lord of your life and truly mean it. But if you do this and don't mean it yes more than likely you'll go to Hell. The Holy Bible New King James Version says in John 14:6 Jesus said to him, " I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." Anyone can obtain salvation through Jesus Christ but it's up to them to make that choice God will not force you to do anything. He loves us all even though we are sinners and He desires to have us all go to Heaven and be with Him but He gave us a free will to choose whether or not we want to spend eternity with Him in Heaven or in Hell with Satan. It's all up to you and no you don't need a priest only a true repented and humble heart.

Well, according to my parochial school training, if you are Roman Catholic and you do a "perfect act of contrition" right before you die- meaning you are trully remorseful for your sins, you get a ticket to either purgatory or heaven. IF you end up in purgatory, you need to make arragements now for your family to donate money to the church and have a big Mass for you. Then all your friends and family can pray you out.
If you are NOT Roman Catholic, Sister Bernadette told me that you are
SOL. Oh, here's another one . . . if a priest performs the last rites (and you are Catholic) then you got it covered. Try not to bleed on the priest , what with AIDS and all that stuff. I don't think they perform the last rites on Non-catholics. Good luck. :-) May be Force be with you.

Depends if you are a Christian you would go to Heaven even if you did not say anything. However you would lose many rewards. If you are not a Christian then it does not matter how sorry you are you would still wind-up in hell. No you do not need a priest, you need Jesus

If you really ment it you might, but it might all depend on what you think the afterlife is like.
Generally if you are going to rob a bank you are in a bad situation and this wouldn't be your first brush with sin and you might not be forgiven if you weren't really sorry.
Then again I don't believe in heaven or hell and I think that the way you live your life affects the way you live your afterlife, but you can change and be forgiven later if you work for it.

If you are truly repentant, and a Christian, God will hear and forgive. Asking for forgiveness is with a repentant heart, if you were in the process of robbing a bank, you probably were not repentant.

Yes death bed repentance is a lie that was spread to make murderers feel at peace. You will still go to hell and you will pay for your sins. True repentance takes time to prove that you won't commit the same sin, and that you are working at keeping HIS commandments.

In John 20:21–23, Jesus ordained his apostles and their successors with the ability to forgive sins in his stead. The sacrament is called reconciliation (comonly referred to as confession) and St Paul mentions it in his letters. See http://www.catholic.com/thisrock/2006/0604fea4.asp

No, if you were truly sorry about your actions and not just repenting because you don't want to go to hell.
No, you don't need a priest. Just confess to Christ.
