Assign a number to each class that you are taking and and have taken based upon the grade that you received.

A=4
B=3
C=2
D=1
F=0

Or, if your school weights honors classes, the scale might be differend. The following is one example of a possible scale.

A=5
B=4
C=3
D=2
F=1

Then add these numbers together and compute their average by dividing the sum by the number of classes that you added together. For example, if you had 2 B's and 3 A's, you would add 3+3+4+4+4 to get 18, and then divide 18 by 5 to get your GPA for those classes. You can calculate your GPA for one year or all of your high school years using this method.

As for "non-credit" classes, it depends on what you mean. Audited classes are not factored into GPA, because you do not receive credit for them. All other classes for which you receive credit, including those such as gym, art, computers, English, math, etc., are included in your GPA calculation.

Non-credit courses usually aren't counted, and if they are, they are either A (pass) or E (fail).

4.0=A
3.5=A-
3.0=B
2.5=B-
2.0=C
1.5=C-
1.0=D
0.5=D-
0.0=E

Find the number that represents the grade you got in each class, and average them out. Example 3As and 1B would be
[3(4)+1(3)]/4 or (12+3)/4 or 15/4 or 3.75 GPA

in case you re take the exact same class and get a larger grade, which will cancel out the F. in case you do not retake the category, the unique F will live on your GPA. even even if they were pre-class the grade remains on your GPA and opt to be retaken.
