We are in the early stages. All that is required is one spark that will set it off. You can already see alliances between nations being made on both sides (Iran, China, North Korea, Russia, Syria on one side, USA and Great Britain on the other). One seemingly minor event will cause the rest of the world to pick sides. That minor event may be the assassination of a political leader in the Middle East, a terrorist attack, or any number of events. This event will force the USA to act just as Hezbollah forced Israel to react. When that happens, WW III is on.

I know it's not easy, but try to ignore the propaganda.
Dubya's policies are not new :-
“Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”

No, I don't think there could ever be a WW III. There will only be additional terrorist active all over the world. Government will have tighter control of it people.
Notice the changes in preserving freedom with wiretaps, searches, etc. We all will be looking more closely to our neighbors. Not a very happy thought, but a real possibility.

World Wars are started in the mindset of humankind. The numerical version of it is irrelevant as it only shows how naive people can be for not learning the lesson the first time and more importantly, the need for it in the first place.

The first answer it the correct one. We have been in WWIII for sometime now. Just a different phase has started.
This is not some one world government or nutty thing like some above me have said. This is simply the free world saying enough is enough.

I believe it is...Israel won't be conquered as long as it doesn't disarm, its enemies will never disarm, and someone else will feel the need to step in soon (statements have been made by Condoleeza Rice, the UN, and the European Union--sounds like the beginnings of a one-world government to me...). Once one country jumps in the rest will follow.

it all depends on China's involvement, we wouldn't give our full military commitment unless a major player like China or Russia was on the other side. That is your WW3 scenario and they look like they would back Iran and N Korea if it came to it.
