I want to add alcohol to jello shots but I am worried it will not gelatin if I add too much alcohol or if I don't add enough it will just be jello

Oh I'm so glad you asked! I'm a pro at these. I am the official jello shots maker for my school campus. Seriously.

Ok, only use lime and orange jello. Just trust me.

The basic recipe is:
3oz jello
8oz boiling water
3oz cold water
5oz vodka

BUT I have created an improved recipe with more alcohol:
3oz jello
4oz boiling water
4oz cold water
8oz vodka

I advise you to not add anymore alcohol than that. The jello shots won't set up properly and you'll have fruity, gritty, liquid jello with vodka.

You can use other liquors but make sure your alcohol to cold water ratio is correct to ensure they set up.
30-50 proof: use 13 ounces alcohol and 3 ounces cold water
80-100 proof: use 10 ounces alcohol and 6 ounces cold water
150-200 proof: use 6 ounces alcohol and 10 ounces cold water

Best of luck. Cheers!

Only replace the cold water with the alcohol. Still use the boiling water. You'll need it to set the Jello. Try using vodka, or even a mix of 1/2 c. vodka and 1/2 c of something flavored. My friends always make Watermelon and use 1/2 vodka half watermelon puckers and it's real good.

Make it like regular jello substituting the 1 cup cold water with 1 cup vodka (or whatever you are using).

So, put gelatin in a dish, add 1 cup boiling water, stir to dissolve. Then add 1 cup alcohol.Stir. Place in shots and put in fridge until firm.

(Don't replace All the water or it will never set!)

First off, visit my site for everything you need to know.

1 6 ounce box of jello
2 cups hot water or juice
1 cup alcohol

They will set just fine. Vegetarian jello doesn't work, I have not tried the private label brands, so don't know about those. I use only Kraft Jell-O.

heres what i do...

use a regular pack of instant jello...your choice flavor (orange is my fave! the box says use one cup of hot water and one cup of cold water...i usually use 3/4 cup of hot water to dissolve the jello and 3/4 cup of grain alcohol. if you cant get grain, try vodka (orange vodka in orange jello is the best!).

do not put a whole cup of alcohol or it will NEVER turn to gelatin!

Follow the instructions on the box but substitute the cold water for Vodka. Do not substitute Vodka for the hot water unless you want super strong shots that will burn your gums!
