I saw pictures from a Muslim demonstration in London. They were holding banners saying: "Slay those who insult Islam"; "Butcher those who insult Islam", "Europe is the cancer, Islam is the answer"; "Europe take some lessons from 9/11"; "Be prepared for the real holocaust", and so on.
It would be unreasonable to believe that all Muslim people beleived what these people say. I dont know many muslims but the ones I do know are very decent people. So how do more moderate muslims feel about this?
Also, even though the extremeists may be a minority, they are undoubtedly the cause of many of the problems in the middle east, and their thinking is the cause of some of the more primitive attitudes of the Arab world. Would you disagree?

To seven seas guy: you didnt attempt to answer my question, but rather give me a lecture on how great Mouhammed is and tell me that i should "know" him. By that you mean become a muslim, right? I have no interest in becomming a muslim so dont waste your time with all that. Im sure you love your way of life but that doesnt mean you have to try and convince evryone else that its for them too. Many people, including myself, dont like people with that attitude.

To make false treaties, falsly accuse, plunder or kill an enemy of Alla/Islam is rewarded in Islam. Read the Koran, Hadith or about Sharia Law.
Some regular Muslims consider Jihad to be a Spiritual battle against spiritual wickedness &/or personal sin. This is more acceptable to their conscience. This would agree with the christian Bibles' Book of Ephesians ch. 6 that writes that our enemy is not flesh but spiritual wickedness in high places. And to put on the spiritual armor. The offensive weapon is the Spirit of Truth. The Word of God spoken in truth. This cuts down lies & wrong thinking.
It is scary for any muslim to come against a jihadist (even ones with those threatening banners) because muslim would get in trouble and may even be considered apostate & get the death sentence under Islamic law.
The Mohumad's God also encourages His jihadists to do these things. It writes in the Koran that to not think it strange that God would ask man to do it (fight). If you have the victory, it's God. Also, heaven is promised to those who kill themselves or dies in battle for the cause of Allah/Islam. As long as some enemy of Islam get kills. If you don't do jihad when asked then it could mean hell (in Koran).
Islam is extreme, so the extremists are being obedient to their God, who writes in the Koran that Jesus is not the Son of God & that He didn't die on the cross for your sins. It is written in the Bible that He who denies the Father & the Son is a Spirit of Antichrist. So that is what this Spirit is & is deceiving people to hate Jews, Christians, etc... He is a Spirit of anti-Christ & a Spirit of Terrorism.
Also to add: The God of the Koran is Allah, & that is one of God's names in the bible. The God of the bible is, "I AM the Yahweh thy Elohim one Yahweh.". Allah is singular. Elohim is plural expressing the fullness of the one Yahweh. Elohim = Father, Son & Holy Spirit. one Yahweh = Father, Son & Holy Spirit is one Lord (united). All three agree and are creator. Before Jesus went to the cross, He prayed that He would be glorified like he was before the world. John 17:24 Father I will that they also, whom thou has given me be with me where I AM; that they may behold my glory, which thou has given me: for thou loved me before the foundation of the world.
I'm a christian. I obey Jesus who told me to love my enemies, bless them that curse me, pray for them who dispitefully use me. I do this. I pray for antichrist enemies for salvation to come into their lives, before they do the ultimate mistake & wake up in hell. When people curse me or falsely accuse me, it is returned dipped in God's Love. I have the love of God in my heart. I don't hate people of other religions. My God hates false doctrines that take away or add to His Word, so I do. The false prophet & beast are the first in the Lake of Fire. Anyone that adds or takes away from God's Word & leads people away from Jesus Christ the Son of God is ending up there (lakeoffire) first. That is a permanent residence.

Radical muslims are not the only cause of the violence in this world. Do not forget about the radical christians who hate those people who choose to not believe as they do.
It is a two way door here and muslims are not the only problem.
How about the home grown white boy that blew up the Oklahoma City Building? Or the christians "on a mission from god" to blowup abortion clinics.
And dont forget that god told Bush to invade Iraq.
Look at both sides of the playing field and you will see.

I totally agree. Speaking as a proud Muslim, the way Islam is represented by the extremist minority in the media is very sad and disappointing.
It would be unreasonable to believe that all Muslims are terrorists and violent, but sadly many people generalize and don't make the effort to actually find out the truth (their truth consist of 30 second clips on the Fox News channel).
Moderate Muslims hate the way these extremist twist around Islam as they see fit and abuse Islam's name to promote their agenda's.
Islam doesn't approve of killing innocent people (regardless of their religion). As a matter of fact, Islam has the most humane methods of treating POW and Enemies during wars and conflicts.

If true Islam is followed, it would project the correct image of the peaceful relegion. Sadly, as you have stated, the actions of the extremist minorities have caused unjust and primitive attitudes towards Arabs and Muslims.
The truth in Islam comes in the form of a man- Mohammad. Read about him and you will see the beauty of Islam
http://www.islamonline.net/english/introducingislam/topic04.shtml
He would never ever approve of the violence that's being done in his religion's name.
The Encyclopedia Britannica calls him “the most successful of all religious personalities of the world.” George Bernard Shaw said, “if Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) were alive today, he would succeed in solving all those problems which threaten to destroy human civilization in our times.” Thomas Carlyle was amazed as to how one man, single-handedly, could weld warring tribes and wandering Bedouins into a most powerful and civilized nation in less than two decades.
Indeed no other human being ever accomplished so much, in such diverse fields of human thought and behavior, in so limited a space of time, as did Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He was a religious teacher, a social reformer, a moral guide, a political thinker, a military genius, an administrative colossus, a faithful friend, a wonderful companion, a devoted husband, a loving father-all in one. No other man in history ever excelled or equaled him in any of these difficult departments of life.

I'm not a Muslim, but, yes, I think it's being over represented by extremists. I've got many Islamic friends and they're all very decent people, one of them is one of the most intelligent and nicest guys I know ( for some things)
But I think every religion is ( or has been, at some point) over represented by extremists,
Think of how many wars have been "In the name of God"

No, the media is oversaturated in their coverage of Islamic extermists.
Yes, I think that it is unreasonable to say that "all Muslim people believe what these people say," just as it would be unreasonable to generalize about any group (religious, political, etc.)
And I agree that extremeists - of whatever sort - often are the catalyst of many problems. I don't care where they are geographically or ideologically located.

you could say islam is misrepresented by extremists. if you want to learn about islam, study the religion itself. if you want to understand extremists, read WORLD history. if you want to know what muslims feel about this (and i mean the real ones), then go to a mosque and ask. they will probably tell you this: we do not support terrorism. islam does not allow the killing of innocents, etc.
however, i encourage you to actually read history. you might understand then the ones who really cause problems in the middle east and understand the frustration of a normal muslim.
oh and a muslim is supposed to be moderate. but the moderate muslims you are talking about are those who are "lazy" and just secular (which a muslim cant be).

Yes it is over-represented. And the thing is....you never saw Christians calling for the deaths of unbelievers when the Da Vinci Code came out.
Why can't Muslims of all persuasions just write a letter to the editor of a newspaper? It would save them a lot of embarrasment.

The "extremist" muslims are not really extreme, they are just following the Quran. Just like there are a majority of people in the world who say they are Christian, but don't attend church on a regular basis, etc. and haven't accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, there are muslims that are muslim in name only (not practicing).

Christians were the same during the crusades, the Spanish inquisition and the witch hunts all over Europe a few centuries ago.
