Your inner ear is linked to the outer surroundings by a small canal referred to as the Eustation Tube. The atmospheric rigidity alterations with altitude, if that canal receives blocked (chilly) or collapses by way of too quick a change in pressue then your ear will experience that as a rigidity that ought to change into painful. The canal can frequently be re-opened by chewing, swallowing, blowing your nostril, or perhaps hard blinking. The canal opens, the rigidity is equalized and the discomfort on your ears disappear

Ive done it before. I had a slight cold, and the pressure in my ears from the elevation was almost intolerable. If I have a cold now, I take a decongestant before flying. But check with your doctor. I'm just an accountant.

I would advise against it. You could end up with a much bigger medical problem. If the flight is not necessary or you can reschedule. See your doctor and get your problems taken care of before flying. Good Luck.
